5 takeaways from Kemi's closing leadership at the Conservative Party Conference.
She unleashed her heaviest fire at Reform, not Labour and it is clear from her tax cuts that she is pursuing her own distinct Southern Strategy. ๐

Had a great, wide-ranging conversation with @MayuranSenthil for Right Sharp.

We discussed Reform's ongoing development and party building, its economic and fiscal strategy. We delved into the huge risks Burnham is taking and how Reform can capitalise on it.
We also looked at the wider backdrop of realignment on the right in Europe and the implications this has for the future of the EU Burnham wants to rejoin.
Reform is the dominant party on the right and will begin to pull clear in the coming months as the Burnham bus careers off the road.
The country is not willing to trust or forgive the Conservative Party. They cannot win the next General Election.
Reform has a shot at it. But only if we make the right moves and keep raising our standards. We must show ingenuity and work hard to earn a clear mandate and durable Parliamentary majority to revitalise the country.
The first clip from the next Right Sharp Conversations episode is up on YouTube.
In it, I share my thoughts on Burnham's naivety in pushing electoral reform, on top of all his other radical and contentious policy shifts, without preparing the ground within Labour. There are many powerful players in Labour who will not take this lying down.

It's also a bit weird that an "anti-establishment" magazine that prides itself on poking the powerful and ruffling feathers has had the same Editor for the past 40 years.
@t848m0 The biggest problem with our pension system is that pension credit directly incentivises people not to save. Very bright and intelligent libertarians seem to believe the solution is to exacerbate this?

๐๐จ A second clip from the upcoming one hour+ conversation I had with Sam Collins of Popular Conservatism for my @RightSharpUK Substack. ๐
In this segment segment Sam and I each share our thoughts on Kemi moving Mel Stride out and Andrew Griffith in as Shadow Chancellor.
I think this was an important, long overdue course correction by Kemi after the big unforced error of appointing Stride, a grey Treasury Orthodoxy archetype, back in 2024.
Sam sees Andrew as the right appointment if Kemi is determined to pursue a more radical economic agenda as part of her efforts to reposition the Conservative Party.
Preview clip for the first ever @RightSharpUK Conversation for my new Right Sharp soundtrack. Talking to Sam Collins about the state of the right in Britain.

Look forward to sharing this first episode for my new Substack adventure Right Sharp on Tuesday.
Sam and I covered a wide range of topics including what lessons significant realignment on the right in Australia and New Zealand may offer for the UK.

Already have a great first long conversation with Sam Collins of Popular Conservatism (PopCon) in the can to release and a couple of pieces written on Reform's ideological direction of travel.
What other topics would you like to see me cover in the early stage?
