Right There

Since 1824 we've walked alongside people who need support, preventing them becoming homeless or separated from their families.

[Right There @RightThereOrg]

Today is both #WorldHomelessDay and #WorldMentalHealthDay.

At Right There, we know that homelessness is rarely caused by a single issue, and neither are the solutions. That's why, alongside our homelessness prevention work, we provide counselling and mentoring to support people's mental health, confidence, relationships and overall wellbeing.

Because lasting change isn't just about housing. It's about supporting the whole person 💛

Two inspiring days at the Homeless Network Scotland Annual Conference in Perth. Great conversations, valuable connections and plenty of learning as the sector came together around the launch of The Level.

A huge well done to Renzo Cardosi and Lauren Cleary for leading a breakout session on Right There's Outcomes Framework and NICO, sharing how our approach supports the ambitions of The Level and helps put whole-life outcomes into practice.

Earlier this month we were delighted to present Peter Coyne with the Volunteer of the Year award at our annual Staff Festival 💛🥳

Peter has volunteered with Right There within our @intandemScot Mentoring programme for just over 3 years. Peter has built positive relationships with his mentees, offering support to the young people and their families on a weekly basis. Peter has gone above and beyond in his role a volunteer mentor and has remained enthusiastic and dedicated to the role over the last three years.

We really appreciate your commitment and enthusiasm Peter, thank you for all you do – a very well deserved award!

Spotlight on Right There - we expanded our Counselling offering in April this year, but we still delivered over 300 session to people we supported last year. We're always Right There when people need us 💛

[Right There @RightThereOrg]

As a sponsor of next week’s @homelessnetscot Annual Conference, we’re pleased to be supporting the breakout room programme. On day two, we’ll also be hosting our own session, Evidence Behind Impact 💛

Come and join Renzo Cardosi and Lauren Cleary to learn more about the significant work our teams have undertaken to better understand the impact of our services. The session will explore how we measure the difference we make for the people we support and how those insights are helping to shape and strengthen our services for the future.

"I don't think they realise how much they helped me, with just being constant for me, because people have let me down my full life."

Cheryl's words show that ending homelessness is about so much more than providing a home.

We know that experiences such as family breakdown, addiction, trauma and poor mental health can all contribute to homelessness. To move forward and build a stable future, people often need the right support alongside secure housing.

That's why we're Right There when people need us.

This #ScottishHousingDay, we're sharing Cheryl's story, as she reflects on her recovery from addiction, rebuilding her life, and the difference our Outreach team made by being an ever present source of support when she needed it most.

Look out for Cheryl's full interview later this week 💛

Having a safe, stable home is the foundation for moving forward. We know that there isn’t enough housing in Scotland to meet demand, so we work with local authorities and landlords to create opportunities for people who need them.

Whether someone is experiencing homelessness, facing a housing crisis, or waiting to move into a permanent home, we help make sure suitable accommodation is available when it’s needed 💛

We’re always keen to hear from landlords who have properties available to support our Short-term Housing programme. Find out more: https://t.co/uicWNZinsA

We are thrilled to announce Blayre is our Mentor of the Month for August, in recognition of her fantastic work, enthusiasm and commitment as a Volunteer Mentor 💛

Blayre began her @intandemScot Mentoring journey with Right There in early 2026 and was matched with M. They bonded quickly and have gone from strength to strength over the past few months. Blayre has been consistent and enthusiastic throughout, as well as a brilliant champion for the programme; M described her as “The Best in the world”.

M’s aunt described Blayre as "absolutely wonderful", adding; “I've had many placements for M over the past 10 years of looking after her and no one compares to Blayre, she's just a breath of fresh air. She has given M great friendship and confidence in life”.

Thank you, Blayre, for the positive and powerful impact that you have made in your mentee’s life and the happy memories that you are building together 🎉

People facing homelessness cannot wait years for new homes to be built.

In our latest blog, our CEO Janet Haugh highlights that while increasing affordable housing supply remains essential, we must also make better use of the homes that already exist.

Through our short-term housing model, Right There works with Glasgow City Council, landlords and letting agents to provide safe, furnished homes in local communities, helping people access stability and support while longer-term housing options are identified. Today, we help manage almost 600 properties across Glasgow.

P's gran shared just how much Aisling's support has meant:

"Aisling is an amazing mentor. She has completely brought P out of her shell and I'm so pleased she's received Mentor of the Month for her kind and caring nature."

Bobby the Right There Bear's Summer of Sport continued this weekend at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games!

He attended the swimming on Friday and men's gymnastics on Sunday, witnessing three Scottish gold medals and helping to spread the word about the power of a "home advantage". Whether it's athletes thriving with a home crowd behind them or people benefiting from having a safe, stable place to call home, the right support can make all the difference.

What a weekend for Team Scotland! 🥇🏊🤸 where will Bobby end up next?
