We are parents, academicians, teachers & concerned citizens who advocate that arbitrary directives shutting online classes should be rolled back #righttolearn

[RightToLearn @RightToLearn2]

Over 500 parents come together today in a unique silent protest against the arbitrary decisions the GoK is taking in kids education.

We hope better sense prevails & instead of depriving kids of education, the government actually works on ensuring education for all. #RightToLearn

In just 250 schools that were surveyed, 60k children have dropped out. There are 3500 unaided schools across Ktka. So how many of our children would have dropped out ?

Can we all focus on our children ?

Fridays for Future was on govt radar long before Disha Ravi's arrest: An inside view. @Csoumya21 writes a detailed copy on police action, internal issues in FFF and the chilling effect. https://t.co/Ecg66eU2C6

[Dhanya Rajendran @dhanyarajendran]

Yes, she would be concerned cos in July 2020 their website was taken down and then Delhi Police sent FFF notice under UAPA. Later, police said it's an error and took the notice back. This was in relation to protests on EIA notification.

[Deepu Chandran @deepuchandranpk]

What the government couldn’t achieve during the EIA protests, they have managed now through the “toolkit” narrative by vilifying young activists @Csoumya21

Do read this article by @newslaundry to know about what an actual hate factory and propaganda toolkit is.

While these hate mongers are protected, genuine activists are maliciously targeted on flimsy grounds to instill fear and suppress dissent.

Bhakts celebrating tweets by Shamika Ravi and Kangana is like Jagathy celebrating Mohanlal’s “kilometers and kilometers” dialogue and ending it with “get out house”

Sir 1000s of parents depend on unaided schools for their child's education. By taking 30% of their fees they will shut down, retrench teachers or reduce salaries. What will happen to teachers & students ? #SaveOurSchools #righttolearn https://t.co/5ZsNEQqwL9 @nimmasuresh @BSYBJP

Government withdraws scholarship for 60 lakh SC students.. a must read short thread

[Deepu Chandran @deepuchandranpk]

Cost of central vista project: ₹20,000 Cr

Total budget of post-matric scholarship for 60 Lakhs Dalit students : ₹10,800 Cr

What should have been central government share (60%): ₹6,480 Cr

What central government agreed to pay (10%): ₹1,800 Cr

What it is finally paying: ₹0

[Deepu Chandran @deepuchandranpk]

Education is what can uplift & to deprive that for the deserving is unpardonable.

Forcing the burden of 90% on states that are already starved for funds & even GST dues itself is criminal.

Now to prioritize central vista over this is unconscionable.

But what can we expect...

[Deepu Chandran @deepuchandranpk]

This insensitivity towards deserving students, that too in a country that had Rohit Vemula shocking the nation’s conscience is unacceptable.

Promoting & supporting education is the ultimate social justice in this neoliberal economy where affirmative action remains very limited.

[Deepu Chandran @deepuchandranpk]

As institutions of national repute like the IIMs struggle with diversity & don’t even have 5% faculty from SC/ST communities, one would feel that the government should support more students so that many more get to PhDs & post docs

And,what do you get...
