The Left sees wealth as a natural resource, something that exists in nature in a fixed amount, which means we're all fighting to get our piece of the wealth pie. To them, it's a zero sum game. People only become wealthy at the expense of others. Hence terms like "redistribution."
In reality, wealth is CREATED through human endeavor and effort, and it's positive sum. Bringing more wealth into the world makes the whole pie bigger and everyone benefits (albeit not equally).
Fighting over the crumbs like we currently do only makes all of us poorer.
