@NamecheapCEO It would be awesome if NC/Spaceship could implement its own feed for sellers to list directly. Charge 10% and prioritize over Afternic/Sedo feeds. Sedo feed is 15% inaccurate resulting in missed sales. Afternic, well, ... is Afternic.
@dotcorner@afternic @abmakrani @domain_junction@nikhil_r17 Afternic sales have been horrible in the past 30 days. The worst part: they are in denial claiming that it is business as usual. It can only be explained by serious shopping cart issues.
@NamecheapCEO@spaceship awesome. will test more. Thanks. A bit unrelated: can you have your staff test if Afternic/GD cart has issues on NC? All big investors are reporting that sales went to near zero since June 3. I am facing errors every time I pay for renewal/auctions at GD
@NamecheapCEO@spaceship NS: currently I see only two choices "custom" "spaceship". Consider e.g. needing to find 5k names based on where they point to bulk change. Also, pagination is missing, when, e.g. you want to renew 200 names. It is either 1 by 1 or all. Not just sorting, but showing the field etc
@NamecheapCEO@spaceship Awesome. Glad to hear. I moved few hundred .coms, but had to take a pause. Need more features and filters to manage tens of thousands of coms. E.g. cannot search by ns, can't sort by reg date, etc.
@NameBio Now, you've 70k names, 30% is 21k names giving you 84 sales/yr @ 2200$ and 1% STR. You should be dropping that category altogether, btw, as you are losing ~$50k renewing them. But if you can identify 1/3 better ones that contribute by smth, then drop the other 2/3.
@NameBio imagine that within that 30% you have 2/3 of bad ones contributing just 2% @ bargain price and near 0% at $2200 and the remaining 1/3 are good names that were giving 12% and now give 14% at $2200 because buyers agree with your price (too cheap can give a pause too). 2 of X
@AGreatDomain@NYGirl5757@afternic That makes no difference. They are still reseller, if they are listed there. Whether they handle the purchase on the site or redirect, shouldn't make difference. Otherwise, they'd be called an affiliate. And it doesn't make any diff for this discussion. Price discrepancy it is.
@afternic ... But Afternic is forcing us to contemplate other choices including removing all Afternic ns & moving names away from Godaddy. We are already stopping handling our installment payments via Dan, as we were ok to pay 9% vs 3% done internally, but not 25%. 2/2
@afternic Afternic is trying to find out how far it can stretch its monopoly power before it breaks. But once it does, it is too late. We have 25200+ domains with afternic and spend over $400k a year between renewals, sales comm & auction buys 1/2
@NameBio Well, my bottom priced tier outperforms higher priced ones by % of sales compared to % in portfolio. I believe they are still good quality that could have been priced $2500+ by quality, but are priced lower for the niche industry/use, e.g.
@NameBio I agree that it might seem so. But think of names not just as price/valuation buckets, but quality buckets. If 30% of names were $1795 and lower and sold just 14% even at such a low price, it could mean that 2/3 of those name won't sell at any price & 1/3 would sell even at $2200
@NameBio Would be interesting to see you do the price elasticity on the higher valued pack. E.g. the ones you currently price at $2200-3000 range randomly adjusted by +/-20% or so. Also, Darpan says the indifference point is $2k, you claim it is $2.2k.
