@IDgraintrader Some plots will be ready right after the 4th, but specific varieties will be ready before that. I know some growers planning on starting the 6th. Our home place mid-July, but this coming week of 100+ may speed that up.

Spring wheat was knee high to a grasshopper, but Dayton and Walla Walla winter wheats are hanging in there. AP Iliad looked good at both WSU variety trial sites. Excited to get the combines rolling; at least on trial sites.

Nice drive down to Moro, OR plots today. Lots of dryland foot rot showing up, but not as drought stressed as some other locations.

@Pineapple_ls I was at our Lind and Walla Walla plots this week. Things are looking pretty crispy, but I’m impressed how well some varieties are handling the weather. Wish we could just turn on the rain in every field though. We’re sitting about 1/2 of normal for the crop yr at the home farm.

Month 2 of trying out biological control for the farm flies. So far, we’re all pretty impressed. They usually cover my white mare. She appreciates not needing a fly sheet in this hot weather. @SpaldingLabs

This is my favorite little plant. Surprisingly, vampire peppers don’t like 28 degrees followed by 3 days of 30+ mph winds, but she’s making a come back! My marigold is looking pretty sad though... My ag degree did not prepare me to garden. #plant21 #tipsneeded
