"Do what makes you happy and you'll never work a day in your life"
Bullshit
Happiness doesn't pay the bills. Do you something you can tolerate and retire early.
“Under God” was added to the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954, not invented in 1954.
The exact wording was actually inspired by Lincoln:
“that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom” - Lincoln, Gettysburg Address
The concept dates back to 1776:
“the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God” - Declaration of Independence
The constitution itself is even dated:
“in the Year of our Lord 1787”
If you’re going to play the history card at least google it first. Im all for freedom of religion, but pretending the USA was founded by a bunch of atheists and agnostics is just silly.
Comeback of the year. Nathan Martin of the United States chased down Kenya’s Michael Kimani Kamau in the final stretch to win the Los Angeles Marathon by 0.01 seconds, the closest finish in race history.
“Hey, people who graduate high school and go to college tend to have better life outcomes. So to improve everyone’s lives, we’ll just stop failing students and lower standards so much that you only have to show up and exist to get a diploma. Then we’ll back it up with guaranteed predatory student loans so everyone can go to college.”
20 years later…
“Why are test scores down?!?!”
Watching @sircalebhammer, a band kid turned finance nerd, get death threats on a weekly basis for telling people deeply in debt they can’t afford DoorDash has been one of the most radicalizing things I’ve experienced.
The Dodgers just signed Kyle Tucker for $60 million a year, $240 million total. Baseball can’t continue like this. I don’t blame the Dodgers for exploiting their competitive advantage — or players for taking advantage of the big money — but it’s awful for MLB.
“Cuba and Venezuela aren’t communist paradises because of American sanctions.”
Yeah…. A communist regime took power and stole US property, so the US quit doing business with them. Fucking duh.
Your excuse for why communism fails is literally:
“It’s only failing because the capitalist refuse to let us keep stealing from them.”
I’ve come to the conclusion that a significant number of adults genuinely believe laws are magic spells, words that, once written down, cannot be broken.
In reality, laws are just opinions written on fancy paper, and they mean absolutely nothing without the ability and will to enforce them.
