6/9/2026 - Tuesday update: One Carson National Forest Engine Crew and the Taos Pueblo Snowballs are continuing with mop-up today on the Piedra fire.
The fire has now been declared contained.
6/7/2026 - Sunday evening update: The Piedra fire is currently 1.64 acres. The Carson Hotshots joined the other crews working on the fire this afternoon.
RFFD personnel assisted with helicopter operations at the dip site.
6/7/2026 - Sunday update: The Forest Service is continuing to work on the "Piedra" fire, north of mile marker 266, with the assistance of a helicopter making water drops.
It is 1/4 acre in size.
* 6/1/2026 - Monday afternoon RFFD, Taos County Sheriff's Deputies and a wrecker responded to a single vehicle accident near m.m. 275.5
* 5/26/2026 - Tuesday afternoon RFFD and Taos County Ambulance responded to a medical emergency.
5/13/2026 - Wednesday morning RFFD was dispatched to a wildland fire in Rio Chiquito Canyon. The Forest Service was already en route and requested us to standby. They arrived on scene to a 1/10th acre smoldering fire and no other resources were needed.
4/23/2026 - Thursday afternoon RFFD and Taos County Fire/Rescue responded to a structure fire between mile marker 264 and 265. The fire was contained to an interior wall and part of the ceiling.
* 4/22/26 - Wed. afternoon RFFD, County Ambulance and NM State Police responded to a single vehicle crash near mile marker 261 1/2.
* 4/21/26 - early Tues. morning RFFD, County Ambulance, a Sheriff's Deputy and a wrecker responded to a single vehicle crash near mile marker 272.
4/17/2026 - Friday morning RFFD, Taos County Sheriff's Deputies, Taos FD and Forest Service personnel responded to a fire burning a large pile of branches
that had been dumped at the pull-off near mile marker 259. It was quickly controlled.
4/12/2026 - Sunday night RFFD was dispatched to a fire near Devisadero trail. There were some people camping and fixing dinner. (At this time, campfires are allowed on Carson National Forest land.)
