@jeroziak @Kapkeisu@IreliaCarriesU Since people use this excuse to stay for very long periods under the sun or in order to tan. And most of the times they think that if they apply sunscreen only once they are safe, which is wrong. I think we can both agree on these points.
@jeroziak @Kapkeisu@IreliaCarriesU All I said was that not being too much under the sun can be beneficial to the skin. Ofc the recommended time would differ from one person to another based on many factors, you mentioned one already. But sth like "spending time under the sun is good" alone can be misleading.
@jeroziak @Kapkeisu@IreliaCarriesU Also, we do not "get" vitamin D from the sun. When your skin is exposed to sunlight, it makes vitamin D from cholesterol. The sunโs ultraviolet B (UVB) rays hit cholesterol in the skin cells, providing the energy for vitamin D synthesis to occur. Food for thought.
@jeroziak @Kapkeisu@IreliaCarriesU Vitamin D may not be found naturally in most foods, but today, many foods are fortified with vitamin D during the manufacturing process. Thus, sun exposure is not as important for the body's vitamin D supply as it used to be.
@Kapkeisu@IreliaCarriesU Actually staying out of the sun is one of the best skincare routines. With repeated sun damage, the skin may start to look dry, wrinkled, discolored, and leathery. Also, doctors believe that most skin cancers can be avoided by preventing sun damage.
