cheap single + $4.99 shipping is where the % on the banner stops meaning much.
tiktok counts buyer-paid shipping inside its 6%.
whatnot skips it for commission but still hits it with 2.9% processing.
run both before you pick
@CollectorBen201@CardPurchaser bubble mailer is fine for one card
sleeve, toploader, painter's tape, a piece of cardboard so it can't bend
i'd only bother with a box for a stack of slabs
@heydomoshi only thing card sellers want from this call is more on ebay live
6% commission capped at $100 per item is the best rate around for big slabs right now
still invite only though
@WNYCards agree on the odds part
one thing tho, that 6-7k isn't all theirs. whatnot takes 8% plus 2.9% processing, so like $650-760 off the top before mailers and shipping every team out
still a crazy margin for 20 min
@gurucollects $39.99 is better but it's still close to what a lot of these cards sell for raw
$50 card on whatnot nets you $44.25 after fees. grade it and you're basically betting on the 10
and 90-100 business days of waiting on top
@CardPurchaser the ones who think the comp is what we pocket
$50 sale on whatnot, i keep $44.25 after fees. then supplies and the label
so yeah offering 70% of comps hurts more than you'd think
tiktok shop only takes 3% on the part of a sale over $10k.
so a $15k slab in Trading Cards is $750 in referral fees, not $900.
big slab guys should know that one
@liberty_collect the math nobody does before sending in a stack
raw price under the grading fee means you need the 10 just to break even
and that's before shipping it both ways
@DomBZee liquidity is the whole thing
online you wait days for a buyer, then fees, then shipping
at a show it's cash that afternoon
a shop that did that every day without the 40% buy sheet would be packed
@alay_choksi vault route makes sense if you're buying to hold
shows are priced for the vendor though. table, travel, gas, all of it is in the sticker
for modern you're paying for convenience. for vintage it's sometimes the only place the card turns up
@NoCoSportsCardz you notice it fast once you see the same names twice
big bids on one show, then those exact cards back up on theirs a week later
can't prove it from chat. i just check sold comps off the app before trusting those numbers
@allset24 $1 starts on eBay Live are a decent spot right now
they cut the per-order fee to $0.10 on items $10 and under through Dec 31
on $1 vintage that's a real chunk you keep. good luck thursday
breakers, real question
where are you running most of your breaks right now? whatnot, tiktok or ebay live?
and is it the fees or the audience keeping you there
@Schillerverse@syncd_collect selling at the top is the only move that actually pays
most people hold the hype pull waiting for "a little more" and sell it at half
that guy should be happy honestly
@Ob1JohnKenob1@eBay yeah this one's easy
one order, one label, one per-order fee instead of two
the buyer saves a few bucks and you probably end up with a repeat customer
@MK5Cards prices on the cards help the seller as much as the buyer
nobody stands there going "what do you want for it" 40 times
more people walk up, more deals close. that hour of stickering pays for itself
@_bismack_ this is the stuff fee arguments miss
psa 9 goes for 3,120 and that already includes the buyer's premium. the psa 8 clears 3k on ebay
lower fee doesnt matter much if half the buyers never see your card
@BreakerCulture the part people skip is their own time
a $5 card is comp, photo, list, pack, ship. 15-20 min easy
after ebay fees and supplies you're maybe $2 ahead of the shop's 40%. for 20 min of work
whatnot's "as low as 3%" is for the biggest sellers with an account manager.
regular breakers are paying 8% plus 2.9% + 30c processing. price your spots off that, not the headline
