@ArthurKolchak This is why I get so frustrated at the take that "Millenials thought having a cushy 9-5 was the worse thing in the world." No, Office Space, Fight Club, American Beauty was made by Gen X and consumed by millenials
Spanking children is a sure way to teach them that sexual abuse is okay. There is nothing normal about pulling down the pants of child and hitting them in the behind while they scream no and try to get away. You’re teaching them that no matter how loud they scream and how much they cry and try to get away that they have to just take it. See how that mimics rape. And even worse, parents will tell their kids “I love you” right after. Teaching children that their abusers can love them still. Then people will deadass have the nerve to be confused as to why adults get into abuse cycles that literally mimic the same abuse that their parents inflicted upon them.
@jlippincott In my case, I was spanked/hit with slippers/hangers. I still broke the rules (don't climb the coffee table, don't play video games before finishing homework). Spanking didn't stopthe misbehaving, I just worked harder to hide it
@jlippincott My best friend (m44) has a daughter, he has a scary aura when he's mad. One time she broke a rule (stood on a rolling chair to reach a high shelf, fall hazard). Both parents knew she did it, dad is glaring at her trying to get her to admit she did it
@jlippincott Because she was afraid, she insisted on lying. Just refused to cop to it. Eventually she copped to it begrudgingly, promised to never do it again but I doubt she meant it. She had the instinctive urge to avoid punishment, but not the respect or sense to listen to the rules at 7
@PeterHamby Don't live there, but I knew all those places were separate cities except Beverly Hills. Genuinely thought it was a neighborhood of the city of LA, not a city in LA county
@japan_nobunaga At Denny's you get 2. At Ihop I think you get 2 in a combo with other stuff (eggs, bacon, etc) but 3 if you order a short stack by itself
@maryamhajhassan @DanFriedman81 I don't know about normies, but youtube comments and reddit think Jimmy is phony, unfunny, and bad at interviewing guests?
@CathrnTheGr8@dumbFagdaughter@secret_ag3nt Pretty much this. Fight Club, Office Space, American Beauty were all typical of this genre of "working an office job sucks and is selling out." But the people making these movies weren't actual millennials, they were late boomer early Gen X
@GerrardSimoly Nah, the messed up part is we coulda omitted Steve's romance arc and the movie would still sell tickets, but adding a romance arc to Captain Marvel would have made her character more "sympathetic and likeable" (eg Battle Angel Alita, Wonder Woman)
@ardasule@thintechgodhead Technically not eugenics if they already had kids. Eugenics is about breeding and passing on (superior) genes. So if they had kids and have a fatal condition, they've already fulfilled passing on their genes, and assisted suicide wouldn't negate the breeding that already happened
@iFooYa People don't like it when spouses go back to the partner that cheated on them. Remember when Bill Clinton slept with an intern and everyone dunked on Hilary for "standing by her man?" It's not fair, but it's just how the public acts
