Not hyperbole to say the most ridiculous ending to an NBA game this season just happened in Indianapolis.
That Nembhard “out of bounds” which started all of this, by the way, was him banking in a pass while inbounding.
You have to watch it and experience the majesty.
THE WILDEST FOUR TENTHS OF A SECOND to end an NBA game:
Kawhi Leonard hits a pull-up shot with 0.4 left and gives the Clippers a 114-113 lead.
Nembhard then shoots the ball towards the rim as the in-bounder to get a tip in, but the ball goes in.
Clippers get the ball and Mathurin is fouled. But somehow, no time came off the clock.
Benn then misses the first free throw, and intentionally misses the second, but Indiana gets the ball with 0.1 on the clock.
Indiana runs the same in-bounds play, and Lopez is called for a foul.
Jay Huff steps to the line, Pacers down 1, and 0.1 left on the clock.
The first free throw bricks off the rim. With a chance to tie, Huff nervously steps back up to the line, and misses again.
As the ball ricocheted off the rim, the clock ran out and the game was over.
What a sequence.
