@lionserpentsun@grok@VladTheInflator The U.S had a Nazi Sympathizer Party until WWII. It was small, but it still had some influence on U.S policies at the time. Hitler got some of his ideas from American Eugenics. We are definitely not free from responsibility.
@igarglewithfire I mean, it's a consistent stance on abortion on their end. There are plenty of people who are consistent with gun rights regardless of party as well. I can't say they're consistent or not, though considering it's a situation that hasn't happened. I don't agree with them, though.
@BasedMikeLee Again, you shouldn't be shocked. Ironically, freedom of religion is what keeps all the denominations of Christianity together. Without it, we devour each other until only a single denomination is chosen to be the true faith by rulers. Think Catholics vs Protestants in England.
@Elishasaxe@DefiyantlyFree I recommend looking it up, it's an interesting bit of history on AIPAC and similar organizations. It also shows how these organizations moved around FARA. They didn't disappear; they just took different forms.
@Elishasaxe@DefiyantlyFree Yep, this isn't a new problem, it's been rotting America for 90 years now(the modern form anyway). It's also not going to be solved unless every organization, foreign and domestic, is required to be transparent about their funding, which would be a fight.
@Elishasaxe@DefiyantlyFree I mean, you'd be correct in that these organizations don't 100% fund elections, but they still have significant influence in lobbying and election outcomes. Every country uses the same loophole(China, Qatar, Israel, etc) by pretending to be all American while receiving dark money
@Elishasaxe@DefiyantlyFree AIPAC has dark money funds, and it's a restructuring of a prior organization called the American Zionist Council(It was required to register via JFK, before they disbanded and reorganized into AIPAC). AIPAC is 100% a FARA dodger; not all of AIPAC's funding is American.
@Elishasaxe@DefiyantlyFree This is true. However, every single one of these influences should be banned from funding U.S elections, Israel included. At the very least, AIPAC should be registered under FARA. Any other organizations not under FARA that should be as well.
@MiniWrongThink@himboballoon@_sn_n It's other factors that make it one of the states that are backsliding Democratically. There's not really much that can be done about that without curbing executive orders(both presidential and gubernatorial); both parties abuse it, and it's definitely not Democratic.
@MiniWrongThink@himboballoon@_sn_n Not saying the voting initiatives make it autocratic either. Both red and blue states use the 60% threshold. I feel like the 60% threshold is too high, but you also don't want something that constantly changes.
@sneedofeedo1@MiniWrongThink@himboballoon@_sn_n I also think they should be worded in a way that even someone with a 3rd grade reading level could understand. I feel like laws in general should be written that way as well. That way, it's fair to most people, not to mention our country has a terrible reading level.
@sneedofeedo1@MiniWrongThink@himboballoon@_sn_n I mean, there should be a limit to doing the same initiative. 10 years is fair. Not to mention, it's best to only do initiatives during midterm elections or presidential elections.
@Tomv55308850@RealBenMichael@BasedMikeLee The funny part is that none of these people realize that once you decide a nation is Christian. The question then becomes what Denomination. Denominations exist due to disagreements. The founding fathers experienced this firsthand in Britain, hence the freedom of religion.
@sneedofeedo1@MiniWrongThink@himboballoon@_sn_n I mean, I'm someone who's against abortion except for in cases of rape or where it could endanger the mother. That being said, I personally think ballot initiatives shouldn't have a threshold. It should go by simple majority. 60% is a high threshold to meet.
