*SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT*
This evening, at 11pm GMT, I will be playing Pokemon to raise money for #ProjectBarakah.
For every game I win on the Pokemon Showdown ladder, I will donate £1 to my fundraising page.
5-3 365th/1455 at EUIC. Proud of my play against some strong opponents, and nice to have done much better than at Birmingham!

Watering down the Islamophobia definition protects prejudice, not people. The govt’s leaked definition ignores how bigotry is actually experienced. No more obscuring the harm. We demand transparency and a definition that leads to real change.
10 seconds into this video a MP says "it's not" in response to @ShockatAdam saying "Islamophobia is real". Seconds later 2 MPs are laughing as he describes violent Zainab Hussein experienced for simply being a Muslim.
This clip alone is evidence that islamophobia exists
He didn’t make it. I’m heartbroken.
@noIisgvi and I connected a year ago and I helped him get his League off the ground. He was so excited when prize support arrived for his first event – he’d been supplying his locals with everything out of pocket up to that point. I made it out to all of his VG events this season and I was looking forward to helping grow his tournaments.
I don’t feel qualified to speak on his behalf because I didn’t yet know him well enough, but I’m grateful that I made the effort to support him when I could, and I’ll do what I can to ensure that his work survives.
I’m so sorry, Billie. You were the best of us. I’m glad we met.
Rest in peace.
Finished 10th at Lille regionals with Dondozo and special Talonflame! After spamming Indeedee Sneasler Dozo for the entire Regulation H, I’m very happy to have achieved a good result with this archetype this weekend.
@playpokemon First of all, thank you for hosting and organizing all these amazing events we have cause it really grows the VGC community together and for a lot of people they are tons of fun.
However, after the last few regionals there has to be something that should be said...
I think, I should mention that I am only talking about VGC and not TCG cause I can imagine that the changes you made make sense for 1000+ players. But most VGC tournaments have between 512 and 1024 players which leads to 8 rounds in Phase and 4 rounds of Swiss in Phase 2 into 4 Top Cut rounds (T16, T8, Semis, Finals). At Lille, it was said that the first round of Phase 2 will be played on Day 1. I think 9 rounds in Day 2 is incredibly exhausting for everyone involved, the players, judges and casters altogether. This should be the limit. 9 Rounds Day 1 + 7 Rounds Day 2 is also not bad so that people can catch earlier flights at 4-5 pm. But the biggest problem was that in Lille a spontaneous decision was made to also play the 2nd round of Phase 2 in Day 1. Especially if you also factor in that there were a lot of disconnection issues in the early rounds (which you can hardly predict I know) players had to play until 9 pm if they made it that far. That means that the players stayed 13 hours at the venue playing Pokémon and they have to be there in 11 hours again. In that time, people still want to get Dinner, go shower and sleep. In the beginning, I thought that the venue was only booked until 3 pm or maybe a similar reason to this but instead, we got shown each Top 8 games on stream. So, the Day 2 still ended around 5 pm which would have also been the case if you don't show every single top 8 games but put the two Phase 2 Swiss Rounds in Day 2. Don't get me wrong. As a viewer it's great to see more matches and on a Worlds Stage, you definitely should show each Top 8 match. But do not do this again to the players & organizers cause I have not heard a single good thing about the 8+2 Day 1 Swiss Rounds. My solution would be and that is really the limit: 8+1 Swiss Rounds in Day 1 & only broadcast two Top 8 Matches on stream. That way, Day 1 probably ends around 6 pm and Day 2 also ends around 4 pm. Maybe you had good intentions doing what you did but I thought I should still speak up as a represantative of the VGC community and after listening to a lot of voices, I think it should definitely be changed in the future again.
Oh also, what is the reason the players got french booster boxes? I'm not opposed to giveaway the stuff in the local language but it just seems incredibly inconsistent and it would also be nice to know beforehand!
