Township of Severn is asking local media partners to help share an important fire safety update with their readers, listeners, and viewers.
As of June 1, Severn’s Fire Danger Rating has been set to HIGH based on Fire Danger Rating reports from the Ministry of Natural Resources and forecasted weather conditions for the week ahead.
At the HIGH rating, burning is allowed; however, extra caution should be taken, and Severn Fire and Emergency Services recommends no burning at this time. The Township may issue a municipal-wide fire ban if conditions worsen.
Residents are reminded to always check the Fire Danger Rating before starting a fire and to purchase a residential fire permit before burning. Fire permits help support overall fire safety, protect the environment, and allow Severn Fire and Emergency Services to monitor burning activities and respond more quickly if needed.
