@impetro9 Rel perm issue? Also wonder if there are multiple perfed zones then you may see cross flow. Sunday school answer, swab it down and run a downhole camera.
@ODstrothers Did you find what you needed?
Worst case scenario is find the seller and go direct. Looks like the Snelson’s (if you’re Permian) are still selling.

@shawngorham California once lead oil and gas production in the US.
Pump jacks are pumping in Bakersfield. ESPs are lifting at THUMS island off Long Beach. Most LA City wells peacefully and properly laid to rest.
License to Drill (Netflix) is a more realistic “how it’s done”.
@resetbasis O&G hope springs eternal.
Acquire and flip like Double Eagle? Innovate to success ala George Mitchell? Find a snowy diamond in the rough like Armstrong? Pick up cigarette butts like Linn (MLP structure)?
In the end the devil works hard… but depletion works harder.
@gregoryblotnick Added to the reading list!
You’d like Robert Caro’s books. The Power Broker is how Robert Moses shaped NY to his will - power wielded at the local level. His ongoing 5 part series on LBJ shows how it was done nationally - at the highest office in the land.
@gak_pdx Who’s the best shop for oil and gas?
Extremely niche market. Foundaries and machine shops have faded away and/or merged to stay alive ex. Dresser, Lufkin, Texas Iron Works.
@TaraViswanathan Read your post and bought the book. Fantastic read.
“A man may keep very busy indeed without doing any thinking at all”
“There is always a better way of doing everything than the way which is standard at the moment”
“The eternal problem of business is men”
@GreyHairOpsGuy Value optimization vs innovation are different skillsets. Quick delivery = boxed program = outsource it
Facilities - Vitruvian/3S Services, Drilling - K&M/local WTX groups, Frac - design (long answer) vs onsite (Ely/Rockstim), Prod - Dwiggins
Sub-in more trusted orgs if known
@OilGasBull Fair point from Hemingway. Choking to reduce production AND maintain a liftable liquid rate is likely. Energy to lift can be expressed as gas velocity. Gas velocity < critical gas velocity = liquid loading (liquid film reversal for purists) which will throttle/kill production.
@redbirdracing@primo_petro Water analysis change or comparable to same formation on offset lease? It would be interesting to do a bottle test with that well’s oil and another non-asphalted oil (analog).
Not exactly a 1:1 test but recreating the asphlating may shed light on which perfs are contributing.
@stadfast@PumpJackJohnson Yes that is fair to say sir. In this case, these “fossil” fuels are organics that have been liquified to oil and gas with enough time and temperature.
@stadfast@PumpJackJohnson A good reservoir needs a source (organic), reservoir rock (for storage - sand/ carbonate), seal (stop fluid vertical migration) and trap (stop fluid lateral movement). You also need time and high enough temp (burial) to cook the organics like a kitchen oven!
@stadfast@PumpJackJohnson Kerogen (organic matter) classified in 3 types. Type I - majority marine source (algae/plankton) most likely to generate oil. See the Permian/Eagleford - these areas in Texas were underwater in geologic time. You need rapid burial of organic to avoid oxidation and decomposition.
