Ben Affleck says his entire movie crew gets a bonus if the film succeeds
"it's not like we're saints or philanthropists... it's completely self serving"
"in order to do the job well, everybody who's working on it has to be really invested and give a shit about the result"
"if this thing actually blows up and does really well, you should benefit from that"
"everyone got their rates, everyone got their hourly, no one cut anything"
"this is just an exercise in actually proving that it's not bullshit, that if there's success, you'll get some extra little success"
Sending best birthday wishes to Malcolm McDowell, beginning his 83rd spin around the sun today!
Amongst his utterly stacked film credits is 1991's ASSASSIN OF THE TSAR, directed by Karen Shakhnazarov and released on Blu-ray by Deaf Crocodile in 2023! We were even thrilled to release this dreamy yet thorny film, and more fortunate still that we could include a brand new interview with Malcolm talking about his work on ASSASSIN. We've still got the standard edition and a few copies of the limited slipcover edition in the Deaf Croc store.
Happy Birthday, Malcolm! Eat cake! f

Final Fantasy Resonance will not have a Switch 1 to Switch 2 upgrade path & save data is incompatible between versions according to the eShop. We've updated our feature keeping track of Square Enix's Switch 1/2 cross generation releases to include it and FFX & X-2 HD: https://t.co/1mNXt5jcQs
Weapons are monstrous guardians awakened by the planet itself to defend against Meteor, the ultimate destructive magic.
Indiscriminate in their destruction, even the Weapons are enemies that Cloud and his companions must stand against in Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
Vanillaware founder George Kamitani - wants to put their other games on PC (Unicorn Overlord, 13 Sentinels, Dragon's Crown, etc.) but says it's up to the publisher to finance the ports
Disclosure Day was such an entertaining classic Spielberg sci-fi thriller that, even though the ending didn't work for me, it didn't take much away from my overall enjoyment of it. The whole cast delivers, especially Emily Blunt and Colin Firth, who are outstanding. I am thankful for one more magnificent score from John Williams. It seemed like the ending could have been significantly improved with a few relatively small changes and additions, but I guess it felt right to Spielberg and Koepp.
During the Q&A, he said he sees the film, Close Encounters, and E.T. as a trilogy. He doesnt count War of the Worlds among them. He again mentioned how much he enjoyed Train Dreams and Obsession. He was asked what he would like people to remember a week after watching the movie. He said to go get tickets and see it again. Maybe he’s been hanging out with Boots Riley.
i love how Spielberg went back to DUEL for this and didn't rely on score to elevate the tension.
crazy to say because it's John Williams he's leaving on the table, but nearly every action set piece in this film has no score.
the camera does the work.
my filmmaking takeaway from DISCLOSURE DAY was blast a space with light and let actors perform.
so much of Spielberg's efficiency comes from deep depth of field. you can get 4 shots like this out of one when you're not worried about focus.
now we light less, shoot shallow, and cut it up.
Spielberg is not naive, he’s optimistic. I suppose you could argue optimism in this current hellworld moment is its own form of naivety. But when you spend your entire life bringing people together with a little bit of magic, you tend to hope for the best.
Today in the Church, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. For Christians, Jesus’ Heart symbolizes God’s merciful and infinite love for every human being. No matter where we come from, God’s love knows no borders, makes no distinctions, is given to all, and brings us together in unity. #ApostolicJourney
Basically, we’re always happy to welcome visitors who have some experience in the game industry (Well, even some really passionate fans might get a chance to visit the studio), and we have people dropping by to check out the studio almost every day. Since we’re still in the early stages and there isn’t much confidential information around yet, we don’t really need tight security either.
The problem is that many of the people who come for a visit end up desperately wanting to join the company lol
I suppose it’s because the environment is great, and apparently we all look like we’re genuinely enjoying what we do and having fun.
Nothing better than a summer Spielberg movie night in a packed theater with friends!
Steven thank you for all of the hours of joy that you have given us in the cinema!! It has been a great honor and pleasure to have worked with you and to call you my friend.
Congratulations to my dear friend Emily and the entire group of artists that created this movie. You were superb.
We all loved Disclosure Day!!
