Its been found that Yellow Perch populations in the #USLR have declined. This is particularly the case since the late 1970s—a time when many have memories of abundant yellow perch. But the assessment also showed other important trends.

Yellow Perch make up between 40%-70% of the total fish population (excluding small fish such as minnows) and play an important role in the food web as prey for species such as Walleye (locally known as Pickerel).
