The government’s own impact assessment warns that the EHRC’s Code of Practice exposes trans women to a “disproportionate risk of violence and sexual assault” and that women who do not conform to gender stereotypes may face “greater scrutiny”.
It also doesn’t offer clarity to organisations that want to be trans-inclusive. For example, if a charity wants to hold a trans-inclusive women’s coffee morning as a service open to the public, without opening it to all.
My plea to the government: withdraw the guidance and instead legislate to protect trans people’s rights, privacy and inclusion.
For reference, the Minister’s response is in relation to membership organisations with rules for membership, but as the guidance stands, this would not apply to a charity service open to the public.
Many of the responses to this are just bullshit, sorry.
It's campaigners against trans rights who decided THIS was the most important issue facing women in the UK.
They did that in alliance with right-wing newspapers and politicians with a history of fighting women's rights.
“Biological woman” has no definitive definition, because all women are different - from chromosomes, to anatomy, to body chemistry, to internal organs. Apart from not being able to have a baby and a period, I am virtually the same as any c!s woman. Hormones physically and tangibly change your sex. The UKSC judgement makes no sense, and will only serve as incitement for increased hate and prejudice towards trans people @HarrietHarman . The fact trans people and ally groups were banned from addressing the court, but five trans hate groups were allowed to advocate to the judge, is totally unjust. It stinks of an Establishment stitch-up, given FWS had lost both previous hearings - and only won when trans advocacy was locked out.
I have always been a woman. I remain a woman. And I will die a woman. Fought hard to be me. Suffered sacrifice, pain and abuse. No corrupt court or whiskery old fart judge who refused to hear any trans advocacy will ever take that away from me. They can’t - because I am who I am. Woman. Female. 🏳️⚧️
Fuck, and I mean this sincerely, the Supreme Court. Bunch of cowards giving in to a hateful minority, allowing "lawful" discrimination of trans women (which will negatively impact ALL women). Those "justices" should hang their heads in shame.
Wait time for a disabled person to access medically assisted death in Canada? Three months.
A specialist for many TREATABLE conditions? 12-18 months.
Affordable housing? Multiple years.
Palliative care, psychiatric care & pain management? Good luck.
This is why we’re angry
For people that don't understand the frustration and anger about this image.
Just picture Andrew Wakefield receiving a peerage for publishing his discredited paper claiming vaccines cause autism. This is just as offensive.
As a kid, I wondered how Germans allow the Holocaust to happen. In the past year I have heard why:
“I am too busy”
“I don’t want to lose my job”
“Both sides are bad”
“Protesting won’t do anything”
“It’s not my issue to speak about”
“I don’t want to lose my friends”
