The Arcane Texas Fact of the Day: It was 54 years ago today, on March 9, 1972, that citizens of Lubbock voted to allow the sale of beer and liquor by the drink at establishments within the city limits, putting an end to its claim as the largest dry city in the United States. However, with bottled alcoholic beverages not available within the city limits, "The Strip" developed at the edge of town in the years following. One reader told me that she loved going to The Strip with her dad when she was a young girl because it was like a "mini Las Vegas, with all the lights they had. It was kind of exciting for a youngster in Lubbock." Looking at this photo, which is courtesy the @LAJ_Photo , I can see that. Any of y'all have any memories?
@RALeo1974 @BNHSFOOTBALL09 “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” Aristotle. The only issue that I have with that quote is that we should constantly try to tweak it and in someway constantly improve on that habit.
@WerderEdESPN @DarrenWoodson@BrianDawkins Why is @darrenwoodson28 not in the HOF??? It makes completely no sense to me. The Quarterback of a 3X Super Bowl champion defense. He is the glue that held that defense together. Without him in a Gold Jacket the HOF makes no sense. PUT IN!!!
