Enjoying a glorious spring day during Earth Week. We did a 'signs of spring' photo hunt, litter clean-up, & a solo sit. We even heard lots of bird singing!

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

Finding simple machines at a playground = fun knowledge building & DPA. We also practised sharing in a knowledge building circle.

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

Doing our first school yard animal group data collection! We saw 4 different birds and dogs. This led to a talk about why some are not here.

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

Enjoying natural inclined planes to learn about forces & simple machines. We also read a traditional Anishinabe story about maple syrup.

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

Loving 'fresh' snow as we enjoyed a story walk using Over & Under the Snow. We put out some bird seed too! #YRDSBGetOut #TMOWinterChallenge

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

Snowshoe DPA time! We learned to play frozen tag with snowshoes on our feet. Thank you Grade 7 Buddies for helping us strap them on.

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

Today we enjoyed hearing a traditional tale about how rabbits got their long long ears & short tails. We also played fox vs. rabbit!

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

Measuring Mania! We compared snowball size & mass. Giant steps were used to compare the distance of 3 tosses. Our snowmen had to be 1m tall!

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

Enjoying a measurement hunt with our Nature Buddies! We found sticks that matched our height and tree trunks that our arms could not hug.

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

The Snowy Day was inspiration for our adventure to create patterns in the snow. We also worked on teamwork skills by making snowmen.

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

At the pond for our first solo sit beyond the school yard! Students spent time enjoying signs of Fall and sketched nature scenes or objects.

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

Check out our pumpkin contest entry! It's Franken-umpkin Fly Guy. We were inspired by the Fly Guy book series. Have a safe Halloween!

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

Enjoying the fall colours and used leaves to begin our sorting unit. Many interesting ways to sort the colours and sizes.

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

On a nature adventure with Mrs.Dyer's class. We listened to a story about the fall colours and did some exploring around the pond.

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

Feeling the power of 'air' as we flew a kite. We also had our first solo sit time with our 'Anything Nature Journal'...and we saw sea gulls!

[Rm111Gators @Rm111Gators]

The magic of the monarch happened in our class! Our hungry caterpillar transformed into a chrysalis. The metamorphosis into the butterfly took many days. We waved goodbye this morning and we hope it can fly all the way to Mexico.
