🚨 DEMOCRATS TARGET EDMOND: HD-81 IS NOW A FLIP RACE

Another Republican-held Oklahoma House district has landed on the national Democrats’ target list.

This time, it’s House District 81 in Edmond.

Republican Rep. Mike Osburn is leaving the Legislature, creating an open seat and removing the advantage of a Republican incumbent.

The November 3 matchup:

🔴 Republican Troy Talley
🔵 Democrat Megan Hornbeek Allen

And national Democrats have made their intentions clear.

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) has officially designated HD-81 as one of its Oklahoma target races. The organization describes Allen as “running to flip a seat” and calls District 81 “one of the most competitive opportunities for Democrats to gain ground in the Oklahoma House.”

WHO IS TROY TALLEY?

Talley is a longtime Edmond resident and UCO graduate who has spent his career in technology and telecommunications. He currently works as a senior account manager for Chickasaw Telecom.

His campaign emphasizes conservative priorities including:

• Lower taxes and reduced government overreach
• Second Amendment rights
• Pro-life policies
• Religious liberty
• Parental rights and education
• Support for law enforcement and veterans
• Restrictions on taxpayer benefits for undocumented immigrants

WHO IS MEGAN HORNBEEK ALLEN?

Allen is an Edmond small-business owner and longtime nonprofit professional. She and her husband co-founded LiveBetter at Home, a senior-care agency.

She has approximately 20 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and has also worked in higher education.

Her campaign presents her largely through local and community issues, while the national organization supporting her is much more explicit about the political objective.

The DLCC says it is working with Oklahoma Democrats to identify the state’s “most flippable districts,” recruit candidates and build Democratic power in the Oklahoma Legislature.

HD-81 is now on that list.

There is another important difference between this race and HD-64 in Lawton.

Mike Osburn ran unopposed in the 2024 general election, so there isn’t a recent Republican-vs.-Democrat House result we can use to measure the district directly.

That makes the DLCC’s decision to specifically target HD-81 even more interesting.

Democrats clearly believe an open seat in Edmond presents an opportunity that didn’t exist while Osburn was running as the incumbent.

This isn’t speculation about Democratic strategy. The national Democratic organization responsible for electing state legislators has publicly identified HD-81 as a seat it wants to flip.

Lawton’s HD-64 is one target.

Edmond’s HD-81 is another.

And with no incumbent on the ballot, this is one Oklahoma House race worth watching closely between now and November.

The DLCC currently lists HD-64, HD-81, HD-85 and HD-100 as its Oklahoma target races. HD-85 is the Democratic defensive race, while HD-64, HD-81 and HD-100 are opportunities to gain Republican-held seats.

He is the foundation this nation was built on, whether the world wants to admit it or not. Our Founding Fathers knew it. Washington dropped to his knees in the snow at Valley Forge. They pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor because they believed liberty comes from God, not from government!

Look around you this morning. That flag with fifty stars and thirteen stripes wasn’t bought cheap. It was paid for in blood at Lexington and Concord, at Gettysburg, on the beaches of Normandy, in the jungles, in the deserts, and in every forgotten outpost where an American kid stood watch so the rest of us could sleep free!

🦅 The bald eagle still soars. The Liberty Bell still speaks. “Give me liberty or give me death” still echoes. “One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all” is not a suggestion. It is who we are!

🇺🇸 This land was settled by people who crossed oceans with a Bible in one hand and a rifle in the other. They built churches before they built courthouses. They put “In God We Trust” on the money and “Endowed by their Creator” in the Declaration. They understood that a free people must be a moral people, and a moral people must be a God-fearing people!

💪 That’s why we say MAGA.
Make America Great Again is not nostalgia for a bumper sticker. It is a refusal to surrender the inheritance our fathers and mothers left us. It is a demand that we remember who we are: a nation that still believes in hard work, in family, in borders that mean something, in the right to speak, to worship, to keep and bear arms, and to live without a boot on our neck. It is standing up and saying we will not trade the cross for the state, the Constitution for the mob, or the flag for a cheap slogan!

🙏 So this morning I pray over this Republic. I pray for revival that starts in the pews and rolls into the streets. I pray for our troops still standing post. I pray for the farmers feeding us, the truckers moving us, the parents raising the next generation of patriots. I pray that we would humble ourselves, turn from our wicked ways, and seek His face again. Because if My people who are called by My name will do that, He will hear from heaven and heal our land!

Fly the flag high today. Say the Pledge like you mean it. Open your Bible before you open your phone. Thank a veteran. Kiss your kids. Work hard. Speak truth. And never, ever forget:
This is still the land of the free and the home of the brave.
This is still one nation under God! 🇺🇸 📖 🙏 🫡
