I almost lost my job in the oilfield, a six figure a year job and almost lost it due to harassment and the company trying to do death by a thousand cuts escalating every minor infraction up to a write up to get rid of me until I went to HR over it…

I’d say it’s a pretty fucking major issue still

I do all the same work as everyone else, and in many instances more just to prove my self just to maintain my career

No one gives a fuck if you’re gay in the white collar side of things but, if you are a blue-collar tradesmen you are expected to be a certain way

And they will make your life a living hell if you don’t fit the mold of their expectations

I both love and hate my career path because of this

I am married to a man and I’m having to pretend like I’m married to a woman just to fucking survive in my industry

Trust me, I thought everything was gay friendly until I experienced genuine homophobia personally

I’m lucky to still be employed here
