Book sniffing weirdo who's slowly efflorescing into a scholar of Victorian, Edwardian, and early modernist literature. Diarist. Lettered. Adores Proust.
@suzanneallan Well done, I don't think anyone noticed (even if it did sound as though you were broadcasting from a broom cupboard :) ). Bravo all for pulling through what must have been a difficult situation, and for getting it fixed so quickly.
@janetsomerville How marvellous, J. So wish could have been there to share in your delight, but quite the haul from Fife :). Thrilled the book is in the wild now, and will be acquiring as soon as pennies are piled. Thanks again for reminding the world of Martha's indomitable and glorious spirit x
@janetsomerville You've almost rendered me speechless, Janet. Quite the finest honour I'm sure, and yet so largely undeserved. I'm now doubly excited for publication day.
Dear folks, most important for me to pass on word of this, not only because a new book which focusses on the legend that is Martha Gellhorn is long overdue, but also because I know that Janet has poured heart and soul into this, and every ounce of ability.

@john_self @MumblinDeafRo @tinakover Great book, and EXACTLY the one that first got me into Montaigne. I've a lot to be grateful to her for. The Compagnon one looks interesting, RΓ³nΓ‘n.
@john_self @MumblinDeafRo Indeed. The pages are the onion skin-thin ones that Everyman's Library typically use for their books, so maybe not as hefty as the page totals would suggest. Certainly able to lug it around, with some little effort :). The Penguin's an absolute beaut though.
@john_self @MumblinDeafRo Beautiful book, although I'm rather in love my Everyman's Library edition which is as hefty and perhaps even more so given it also contains letters, travel journals etc. Also, (butting in), nowt wrong with waxing lyrical about Montaigne, RΓ³nΓ‘n π. He's a joy.
@AllThingsEla Absolutely no need to justify anything, especially to yourself. It's just nicer seeing your words and pictures popping up in my timeline. I know what it's like though trying to fit everything in, and sometimes even raising the enthusiasm.
