#Buddy: Lags a bit in the middle, and it feels like story elements are at times dropped without real resolution, but I still found it worth watching both for its creative weirdness and dark humor. Grade: B- (81%).

#Tony: Great cast, and its greatest strength is that they don’t sugarcoat the character flaws and unlikable moments. It makes the growth and maturity feel earned, authentic, and satisfying. Grade: B+ (88.5%).

#TheEndOfOakStreet: Meh. Some amusing dinosaur moments, but the movie as a whole is underwhelming. It’s like it never shifted into second gear. Felt like the first act for a bigger, better movie. Some stiff and awkward acting too. Grade: C (75%).

#SpiderManBrandNewDay: Another winning film in this series. Tom Holland continues to anchor this franchise very well, and it’s some of the best action scenes in any Spider-Man film. Grade: B+ (88.5%).

#TheOdyssey: It’s great. All the components (performances, visuals, score) are excellent. Felt like a modern version of old epics from the 50s and 60s. I love those movies, so I vibed with this movie a lot. Grade: A- (90%).

You may remember that industry had #TheOdyssey at a 100M as their more optimistic outcome for Nolan’s 3-day opening weekend. The Epic already grossed over half of it just on FRI Opening Day alone including previews!

#EvilDeadBurn: You get the gore and creative camerawork you expect, but I’d only recommend it to those who are up for something this sadistic and gnarly. Wish it was more fun and less unpleasant, but it was a fine, one time watch. Grade: B- (79.5%).

#Moana2026: It’s not the worst of these remakes, but it’s still a carbon copy of the far superior original, and there’s no reason to rewatch this over that animated classic. Not mad, just apathetic. Grade: C (75%).

#TheInvite: Very good. At times quite funny and other points dramatically gripping without feeling like tonal whiplash. Like a modern day Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, and I love that movie, so big compliment. Grade: A- (90%).

@ScottMendelson I don’t know. In 2022 it looked like Universal had taken the animation crown from Disney. But whether it was Universal getting complacent or Disney reminding people they’re a juggernaut for a reason, it feels like Universal handed that crown right back.

#MinionsandMonsters: It finally happened, I enjoyed an Illumination movie. Who’d have thought having an actual story and some creativity in the gags would yield a better film? Crazy, huh? Grade: B (85%).

#Supergirl: Didn’t hate it, but there were just too many negatives for me. Found the villain lame, thought it had pacing issues, and wasn’t impressed by the action. Milly Alcock was good at least. Grade: C (75%).

#JackassBestandLast: It’s still funny, but go in knowing it’s a ‘best of’ compilation film. So, even though there’s new scenes, if you’re a fan and have seen the other films you’ll get some repeat footage. Grade: B- (80%).

#ToyStory5: Pure delight. Funny, touching, and great characters, Toy Story is 5 for 5, and I love that. Also, Conan was a huge highlight. Grade: A- (90%).

#DisclosureDay: I’m team negative on this one, and it’s all because of the script. Far too many plot conveniences, logic gaps, and undeveloped story beats. Spielberg’s direction and good actors couldn’t save this one for me. Grade: C- (72%).
