Baseball & Softball dads,
I started playing baseball at 7, played, coached & MLB scout total of 46 years, it's all I've known, I'm 53 & have never had a "real" job outside of baseball for longer than 5-6 months.
But my best baseball memories are still learning to be a catcher in the backyard w/ my dad, getting used to getting hit in face mask, going to the "old school" batting cages with him, practicing my swing on an old tire he put on a pole, him throwing us BP even when he couldn't really throw & the practices and games he coached me..
PS: He never played an inning of baseball in his life. Ran track for couple of years in high school, but zero team sports, ever. He read a few books and we tried things. He taught me disciple, work ethic, to believe in myself, finish what I started & to never EVER quit.
Dads: you can do this & it wont hurt their development. Zero reason for lessons when they are young and the memories are more valuable than anything you can possibly find available in the baseball/ softball industry.
I promise you will thank me later and so will your kids.
