@jamesnchlsn Edinburgh? Oh mate, you're gonna love it!

The first paper from my PhD is out in JGR Oceans!

@Dunc76 Thanks Duncan!

[Rob Kelly @RobWillKelly]

@ajscuthbertson Thanks Alan!

[Rob Kelly @RobWillKelly]

Looks like the PhD process has aged me a bit! This was taken just as I was starting out. Fast forward 4 years and I have successfully defended my thesis :)

[EPSRC CDT Future Fluid Dynamics @CDTFluidsLeeds]

Massive congratulations to our @CDTFluidsLeeds student @RobWillKelly who successfully defended his thesis today! 🎉👏😀

[Rob Kelly @RobWillKelly]

And the thesis is handed in. Time for beer and bed.

[Rob Kelly @RobWillKelly]

One month until hand-in.

[Rob Kelly @RobWillKelly]

My climbing partner couldn't understand why I was just as excited by the clouds as by the dolphins we spotted yesterday! Think I've only ever seen K-H instabilities in the lab and in photos before.

[Rob Kelly @RobWillKelly]

@TurbidiTea Cheers, it's cool what you can manage with a phone these days.

[Rob Kelly @RobWillKelly]

@JoshTalib That's pretty swift. It's when you have to start measuring in days that it's worrying!

[Rob Kelly @RobWillKelly]

Getting emails starting "Dear Dr Kelly", 3 months before I'm due to hand in, feels worryingly like a jinx. #TheFearIsStarting

[Rob Kelly @RobWillKelly]

A successful #iahr conference for @morphodynamics winning a young researcher prize. And more importantly a super snazzy cap. #YoungAtHeart

[Rob Kelly @RobWillKelly]

@ThomasEPadgett @UoLPGconference Any chance of one for a specialist, unintelligent audience? Asking for a friend.

[Rob Kelly @RobWillKelly]

@IAGLeeds All cleaned up, just to repair it now!

When you snap a pipe in the lab, causing a small flood and a minor heart attack. 2018 off to a good start!

A turbidity current is an underwater current of usually rapidly moving, sediment-laden water moving down a slope https://t.co/iAOzJALtqF [it's a process similar to the one observed in pyroclastic flows from volcanoes]

[Rob Kelly @RobWillKelly]

En route to Newcastle for #BSRG17. Somehow managed to make it to the 3rd year of my PhD without going, time to fix that! #FirstTimer
