As Hasan Picker and Cenk Uygur are denied entry to the UK, it’s worth remembering that Isaac Herzog — accused of “direct and public incitement to commit genocide” by the UN Commission of Inquiry report — was welcomed by Keir Starmer on the steps of No10 in September.
Note how @JustinOnWeb tries to shield @metpoliceuk from accusations of political policing by claiming that the reason they refused to allow the annual Nakba Day march to finish, as usual, in Whitehall was that they were already in discussions with @TRobinsonNewEra .
Watching this and then seeing @TiceRichard and @Nigel_Farage invited to the rally against antisemitism today brought to mind the article by Liz Fekete at the height of the Labour antisemitism crisis. In it she warned about the bifurcation of a true anti racist struggle.
@BenJamalpsc Solidarity Ben. You have made such a contribution to this historic movement. It has been great to have the opportunity to work with you. Best to you and the family
The Times’ front page this morning: “British Jews face greatest ever threat”. A few hours ago, they published this cartoon with a vile representation of @ZackPolanski. The hypocrisy is sickening; the antisemitism real.
This is the logical kernel of Carlson’s antisemitism, and it proves Edward Said’s point that Orientalism is the ‘strange secret sharer of Western anti-semitism’. The barbarism of modern warfare is displaced onto the Jewish ‘East’ to exculpate the Christian ‘West ‘
The clear meaning in Rowleys statement and this follows up is that we deliberately intend to be near synagogues. The reality is we choose routes of political significance such as BBC snd seek to vary them to prevent disruption to a single location. Rowley knows this. Retract.
There is another issue not sufficiently commented on. At every march there is a counter demo usually led by @StopTheHate_UK . They insist in being placed close to the march. We have documented numerous incidents of racist abuse directed at marchers and reported them.
Leave aside the lie that the marches call for violence against Jews.. what she is also saying is that chants of " who the f.. is Allah," " Muslim scum off our streets" and " Shove Palestine up your a..." are not targeting hate at anyone. She's unfit for any public office.
The call for marches to be banned is such an obvious attempt to use acts of racist violence against Jews to suppress the right to protest Israeli racist violence against Palestinians that in a functioning democratic society it would not be worthy of comment.
Trevor Phillips about Mandelson last Sept: "I was his friend & remain his friends & will continue to be his friend & I'm, if I may put it this way, mildly disgusted by the people who have spent the last few yrs saying what a fantastic person he is.. who are now running for cover"
Dangerously irresponsible of Rowley. Jews on the marches can testify none have passed by any synagogue, nor were they ever intended to. Pro-Palestinian protest is directed at Israel, not Jews. Rowley is stoking Jewish fear. He must retract.
The valiant warrior against racism who today invited onto his show a notorious Islamophobe and anti Palestinian racist who believes there is no occupation and the Palestinian people are an invention. Beyond shameful.
@DPJHodges An anti-Muslim march is an anti-Muslim march because the people on the march say that they are anti-Muslim. The pro-Palestine marches are pro-Palestine. It's you and others saying that pro-Palestine is 'anti-Jewish' but that involves conflating 'Israel' with 'Jewish'.
The Jewish Bloc will be on this march as on all previous demonstrations against the annihilation of the Palestinian people and our government's complicity in it. Calls to suppress solidarity with Palestine in the name of Jewish safety implicate Jews in Israel's crimes. Banning protests may increase antisemitism; it will not curb it. @JVoiceLiberatio
