@Heccles94 End fiscal drag and the triple lock and have benefits, tax thresholds, and the living wage all rising by realistic amounts based on the average of: growth per capita, inflation, regular wages and 2%
@SandieBlickem@Jaxopinion@GMB I'm not sure that's structly true. For people with median earnings once nil rate bands are taken into account they will pay circa 19%
@CaptKennie@JWilliamsKunt@GMB That indicates that 11m pensioners aren't in poverty ... the triple lock is a poor (and expensive) way to solve the problems of the 2m who need extra help
@JWilliamsKunt@GMB I am thanks ... but I accept that the state pension is unaffordable in the current environment. Its gone up £800 in real terms in the last 10 years
@Jaxopinion@GMB To fund a pension payment of £241.30 per week with triple lock guarantees privately you would need a fund of over £400k ... the reality is that those with pensions are taking out way more they they contributed.

ICMYI, here's Cornwall Insight's latest forecast for the Ofgem cap in July - a rise of £288 (or 18%) on the April level of £1,641.
This is actually slightly less than their previous forecast - and usage is lower in the summer - but still a large shock.

@RachelReevesMP@CMAgovUK Will tackling incidents of exploitative practices extend to the students loans and the usurous interest rates graduates are being charged?
