@ardnin_ Like, a lot of dongles used to be like this. Phone ports are fairly sturdy, but on a pc this would lever and break the port’s connection to the motherboard. (I think! I’m not an expert)

@ardnin_ As far as I know, this is to prevent damage. Without the cable you just create a really long plug, which acts like a lever / crowbar on your port. If you exercise force on the end of the plug then it might lever and break the port.
