@FishboneX17 Good question. Right now Tesla hasn’t released any public plans to make other charging locations like this one, but I have a feeling that will change once this diner opens up.

Trip Summary

Based on trip planner and some traffic at that start, I was initially optimistic that I would reach my hotel in West Des Moines, IA with around 2% remaining (all on a single charge). After ~3 hours of driving, I noticed I was not going to make it and decided to stop for a quick charge at the Ames v3 Supercharger. Some data points:

- Conditions were relatively clear with temps hovering just about 70F
- There was a 14-29mph headwind out of the SSW that was present for the entire trip
- I left the Minneapolis v3 Supercharger w/ 100% SoC
- TACC was set to 70mph (TACC) for the entire trip
- The Cybertruck AWD averaged 525 wh/mi between Minneapolis & Ames
- I arrived at the Ames, IA v3 Superchager w/ 5% SoC
- Based on trip planner, I would have arrived at my hotel in West Des Moines, IA w/ -14% SoC had I not stopped in Ames to charge.

Trip Thoughts

- The Cybertruck rides like a dream - It is fantastic for road tripping especially from a comfort perspective. When I was charging I felt like I had a proper office on wheels, all that was missing was Starlink!
- It's tough to stop for a quick charge as folks always want to chat. I've never seen so many people excited about a vehicle like this before!
- I absolutely love the audio system in my Model S Plaid, but the Cybertruck's system is a noticeable improvement in every aspect, particularly in terms of bass and mids.
- While I missed Autopilot and FSD, having TACC was more than sufficient for this trip. Hopefully Autopilot and/or FSD is coming to the Cybertruck very very soon!
- The 24" aftermarket wheels definitely hurt us today when it came to aero efficiency as the rears stick out about an inch beyond the fender. I remember with my Model 3 Performance I recognized up to a 10% reduction in efficiency with certain wheels so I wouldn't be surprised if the impact was that severe here.
- The headwind did not help either however that is why I love range testing along this route. There is almost always a 15mph+ headwind no matter which direction you are traveling between Des Moines and Minneapolis. It really is a tough route, especially in the winter when the temps drop well below -20F!
- Based on a recent trip along this route that I completed with my Model S Plaid (running the OEM 19" wheels, P-Zero Summer Tires, & No Aero Covers), I was able to reach my hotel in West Des Moines on a single charge (100% to 4%). Conditions were actually slightly worse on that specific trip as there was more rain with wind direction & speed being roughly the same.
- After being so spoiled by the awesome range of the Model S, I definitely would need a larger battery / range extender since I do this trip so regularly. I really hope @Tesla still plans to come out with the range extender later this year. If so, any idea when we will learn more about the specs of the range extender @wmorrill3?

Phantom braking still persists which could easily result in a rear-end collision. Yesterday it wasn’t exactly phantom braking but rather scardy-cat braking as a semi merged into the number two lane next to my car in the number one lane. Car decelerated from 65 to 40 on the freeway

@TeslaBoomerPapa Good call out. I’ve been using FSD for months on many road trips, and most of us know the F (Full) is not accurate. It’s more like SSD - Supervised Self Driving. Stay alert at all times and you will be safe and happy.

I expect them to repeat the same stuff twice per hour for the rest of the day!
Did you hear ANYTHING from them on the last TWO HARD RECALL of Fords for burning engines and other major failures of their cars with 500,000 recalls and 250,000 ?

@TESLA_winston First P is Performance acceleration. 85 kw is the size of the original older battery pack years before the 100 and now just labeled Long Range.
The second P is probably what replaced the + (Plus) which designated a few handling and steering features offered in the early years.

@MissJilianne Finally yesterday, I received my V12.3.1 update. I was in for service getting two Safety Recalls and then the head tech greeted me with the good news that he downloaded the new software. He said “let’s go for a ride.” It’s great but you still have to be ready to take control.
