Governor Morrisey is traveling to the affected communities to assess damage firsthand, meet with local officials and first responders, receive operational briefings, and provide an update on the state's response and recovery efforts.
I want to thank the Legislature for passing the Rural Health supplemental, which allows us to move forward with important steps to strengthen health care access in our rural communities. Too many families across our state face long drives or limited options when it comes to basic medical care. This measure gives us the flexibility to begin addressing those challenges and improving the availability of services where they are needed most.
Access to quality health care is essential for building strong communities and a strong economy. By advancing this supplemental, we can begin putting resources to work that will help support rural providers, expand access to care, and ensure more families receive the medical services they deserve. I look forward to working with our partners to implement these improvements and deliver meaningful results for the people of our state.
West Virginia faces real challenges when it comes to health and workforce participation. Too many of our citizens are sidelined from work because of untreated illness or lack of access to care. With the initiatives made possible through President Trump’s Rural Healthcare Transformation Program, we have an opportunity to address those challenges head-on and build a health care system that meets the unique needs of our state while helping more West Virginians return to healthy, productive lives.
Every day that lawmakers fail to act, West Virginians are at risk of losing vital funding for this historic effort to rebuild and modernize healthcare across the Mountain State.
We are already 45 days behind schedule and may already be in line to lose significant money because of the inaction of the House. Every day lost is one less day to improve outcomes and prove to CMS that we are making progress. Their inaction is hurting our people.
It’s time to stop playing politics with West Virginia’s $200 million a year award.
Let’s pass the Rural Health Transformation Program.
A 10% across-the-board income tax cut is too important not to get done. As we stay competitive with neighbors like KY, OH & PA - who've slashed or are slashing their rates - West Virginia families deserve real relief from high costs on groceries, energy & more.
West Virginia deserves a meaningful income tax cut. I would like to see a 10 percent across the board income tax cut and have already done the heavy lifting to get us half way there.
We can get the other half by coming together and collaborating to identify offsets. I’m here at the Capitol quite a lot and eager to work with legislators to make this happen!
Don’t let anyone tell you that we can’t make state government more efficient — we can do this but the executive needs help from the Legislature!
I am open to good ideas and will work in good faith with the Legislature to reach an agreement.
Let’s tell the naysayers that West Virginians are demanding an income tax cut!!! #IncomeTaxCutsNow
If you care about advancing economic development in West Virginia and addressing the affordability challenges our state faces, then you should support our tax cut package.
Passing across the board, broad-based tax cuts for individuals will be the most effective way to make a dent in the high cost of groceries, fuel, and a wide variety of goods and services.
Ohio and Kentucky are on a pathway to have lower taxes than West Virginia. We can’t let these states get ahead of us.
With our fiscal prudence paying off and our state already seeing a surplus of $128 million during this fiscal year, it’s time to give more money back to the people.
Retweet to support lowering our state’s income tax during this legislative session!
West Virginians need a tax cut in the new year! We must give our citizens back more of their hard earned money and better compete with other states that we touch!
Retweet to support a further reduction in tax rates!!!
