@DailyMailUK@SENSEBC Drivers are switching to electric cars which reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Now gov't wants to recoup lost fuel revenues by penalizing electric car drivers as if they were still burning fuel to reduce ghg emissions which those same drivers are already doing.
@rcmpgrcpolice@critiklthinking Something negative seems to happen to the psychology of some humans when they're given the power of a police officer, as evidenced by numerous videos since cell phone cameras became common. I'm wary of police and would never join your ranks.
@SENSEBC A more rational choice would be raising drivers licensing standards to reduce accidents.
But lower speed limits does equate to increased ticket revenue doesn't it?
@PaulDoroshenko Wouldn't it be prudent for prosecutors to delay laying charges until Jan. 21? Or does a pardon include any crimes which MAY have been committed in the past, whether they've been yet uncovered or not?
@critiklthinking@richardzussman Derek I don't doubt your statistics. I think the basic issue is that our medical system is designed to cope with that predictable model of illness and death. A large surge of Covid hospitalizations overwhelms that system - that's the unmanageable threat.
@PaulDoroshenko The police officer had to know he was under video surveillance. One can only conclude that the police culture of impunity towards accountability and oversight let him believe he could get away with assault.
@sophielui When I cycle I make a point of staying off of busy streets for just this reason. Trying to stay 1 meter away from parked cars to avoid dooring is impossible.
