The desert is the homeland of my heart. My spiritual path is cultivating a heart as spacious as the desert: wide open to every direction of the compass, wide open to every creature that walks, flies, or crawls through it, wide open to every change in the weather. —Tessa Bielecki
Morning Prayer: Loving God, help us to not squander this day on trivial activities. divisive conversation, and even unnecessary meetings. Help us to value this day by living intentionally, experiencing meaningful conversation, and productive meetings with purpose and action. Amen
Holy women and men do not have easier lives than others. On the contrary, they are often objects of opposition. But through #prayer, they nourish the flame of their faith, as oil used to do for lamps. And thus, they move ahead walking in faith and hope.
Morning Prayer: Loving God, may this day be a day of rest from all that we seek to achieve or produce. May we receive this rest as a gift of Your grace that allows us to recover our soul and humanity. Replenish our lives and renew our strength for the coming week ahead. Amen.
One of the greatest apostolic fathers to all the generations. I know of few pastors that had the kind of impact on so many of us in my generation for the glory of Christ in my lifetime. May his rest be glorious. Eternal Memory!
Art is a gift that does not thrive in transactional consumer market. Art needs nurture, as much as vigorous competition. Like the gifts offered by Magi, the gifts are for our nurture of the sacred. @iamculturecare
This Christmas Day, I'm thinking about how we can all cultivate a deeper intimacy with God. I'm convinced that The Presence needs to be recognized, honored, and drawn upon to become a living Presence within us. #DailyMeditations https://t.co/3VN4eKVChL
Jesus isn't casting Peter away with his rebuke but telling him to get in-line with his vocation as the Son of Man who must die and be raised. Other would be disciples who follow Jesus will have to lineup behind Peter – the first one to "get behind" him. (Mark 8:31-38) 2/2
Jesus' rebuttal to Peter "to get behind (ὀπίσω) me" is immediately followed by Jesus' invitation for anyone who wishes to come behind (ὀπίσω) him (i.e., become his disciple). (Mark 8:33-34) 1/2
"In Christianity properly understood, there isn’t a sacred language. Some might say Latin was, but it wasn’t. The gospel can only really be heard in dialect." https://t.co/6ix7mulT78
I’m presenting a lecture at Southeastern University on November 3rd for the Global Pentecostalism Center.
We will explore how our Christian witness is impacted by how we engage in culture and in our communities. (1/2)

Join us this Sunday as we start our new series “At The Movies” where we will be taking a journey into some of our favorite films to explore the spiritual and theological truths in the stories they tell.
Happy to be a small part of this project. My quick teaching tip is titled “The Three Little Pigs and the Synoptic Problem.” It’s a teaching activity that I developed for introducing the concept to undergrads. @SBLPress
