Yesterday it was bright, sunny and warm. I was thinking that I should soon bring my patio furniture out on the back deck. Today, May 3 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, I don’t have these same thoughts. Snow, wind and thunder! Spring is so confusing. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Getting some pretty strong gusts near Stillwater Lake, gusts are easily in excess of 70km/h. Seeing patio furniture and large garbage bins blowing around all day. #NSstorm#NSwx
At my CoCoRaHS station I have approximately 50mm of rain since my last standard observation at 7am.
That is approximately 5mm/hr. Went for a drive earlier and see several ditches on the road at capacity, with a few isolated ones overflowing onto the street. #NSstorm#nswx
This is the problem with convective bands and rain forecasting. Areas of blue are 5-10mm with the yellow and orange colours indicating 35-80mm. There is such a tight rainfall gradient that any shift in cell track would’ve changed who seen rain and who didn’t. #NSstorm#NBstorm
@BadWeatherKyle Looks like it’s trapped in a pretty good blocking pattern. Hopefully the Bow and Elbow rivers are able to handle the extra push of precip.

@WxWiseApp You say pro users and the US NEXRAD radars, is this exclusively for US radars or will it work for Canadian as well so long as the user is in the pro tier ?
After looking at this and talking to friends I decided to look at the deficit/surplus for a station that’s been recording for longer than I have. Comparing a station in Bedford to YHZ normals we’re seeing a -560mm deficit when looking at the Jan ‘24 - Mar ‘26 period.
I was looking at my @CoCoRaHSCanada station data and comparing it to the nearest station where I have normals calculated by @environmentca. Looks like we have been having a wetter winter than normal.
