@WillyRice 1. Resolutions are voted on as presented yes or no. No adding or "wordsmithing" of the resolution.
2. Each entity head to hold a 30 minute or even better a 1 hour question and answer period at some point over the course of the meeting at separate times.
@FailingPastor Have to disagree: Luke 4:16-22 After reading from Isaiah, "He began to say to them Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing." Acts 3:11-26 Peter preaching, Acts 13:4-52 Paul preaching in Antioch
@edstetzer@CSBible@Beale1Gk@DrGladd My favorite NT verse John 16:24 "Until now you have asked for nothing in My name. Ask and you will receive so that your joy may be complete."
@WillStandridge I think another reason is the Emphasis in Seminars today is about getting as many students as possible to enroll for numbers and money and not so much to prepare the call. S
The 6 SBC Seminars just focus less on colleges and more on preparing the call to go where they are calle
When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, we become Saints. We are sanctified or set apart for use by the Holy God according to His will. #SimpleTruth
@DanielRitchie I start on paper making outlines and notes, then move to computer to manuscript out the message, then allow myself 1 page of notes placed in my Bible no one can see to preach from. It is how I learned from Dr. McDill, and I am still too scared of him to do anything else.
@edstetzer Living this out, I begin serving as Pastor of a local church on August 1st after 22 years serving in a Baptist Association, looking forward to being with 1 local Body of Believers, but I have never been as humble as I am now in preparing for this a new ministry.
Favorite leadership quote from Tom Landry of the Dallas Cowboys. it can apply to the role of a coach, leader, or pastor
A coach is someone who tells you what you don’t want to hear, who has you see what you don’t want to see, so you can be who you have always known you could be.
There is a lot of discussion today about how much preachers should rely on AI during their sermon preparation. One thing that I am discovering is that AI is very beneficial in tracking down the truth behind many of the illustrations and stories I have heard other preachers use
to discover that they are not entirely true. Guys, if the people in the pew can “Google” our illustration to see if they are real or not, then we in the pulpit should too. It will push pastors to dig deeper with our message preparation and struggle more with the text,
@PastorOnTheFly I have been taught there is a difference between a sermon and a message from the Lord. A sermon is put together with no prayer and is mostly the opinion of the one preaching it or what AI says. A message from the Lord starts in prayer and is developed by struggling with the text
Before you say you practice "Servant Leadership," ask, "When was the last time you physically emptied the trash can in the office?" If emptying trash cans and taking out trash is "Not my job" or "beneath me? You are not practicing Servant Leadership.
Butch Wilmore's takeaway from nine months in space? “My feeling on all of this goes back to my faith. It's bound in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is working out His plan and His purposes for His glory… And however that plays out, I am content because I understand that.”
@BaptistBlogger While started with good intentions and an effort to stay current with the changing landscape of education and requirements today they are nothing more than a way to get more money like every other college and university.
