First set I collected from buying baseball card packs. I was seven. I was seven. Packs were 25 cents each. My allowance was $1 per week an my father would pay me with four packs (sales tax was apparently overlooked). Remains my favorite set.

After saying farewell to the Continental Army and his officers, George Washington resigned his commission as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army to the Congress of the Confederation #OnThisDay December 23, 1783, at the Maryland State House in Annapolis, Maryland.

Today, a depiction of this event can be found in the rotunda of the Capitol in Washington, DC. Painted by John Trumbull, it was commissioned in 1817 and finished in 1824.
