Carthage is a welcome addition to the literature of a civilisation that has been entirely erased from history. Rarely do historians write so movingly. I defy readers not to be moved by the concluding chapters which so eloquently describe the tragic annihilation of a civilisation.
If I was an American citizen, I would be totally ashamed of the words my president spoke yesterday. My son fought in Iraq for NATO. He's now been told he was cowering safely in the rear. My son made it back in one piece. Many are still paying the price!
