@StevenACohen2 Just would like a simple explanation. The main reason the team was as bad as it was in the second half was the pitching. So the solution to that was getting rid of Alonzo, Nimmo and McNeil and losing Diaz.
@EvanRobertsWFAN Have to turn this day into a SIGN PETE ALONZO day. Everyone has to make it clear to the owner. It was Cohen who made the Soto deal not Sterns. This is beyond baseball. This is legacy. Cohen's call.
@StevenACohen2 I go to bed tonight disgusted and sad. Not really sure what Sterns is selling but he is WRONG. Even with Alonzo you have not done enough to win the division. Without him, Mets would be lucky to even make the playoffs. There is no run in 2024 without Pete.
@StevenACohen2 Ive seen it way too many times with home grown players. These new guys want to bring in their own players to make them look smarter. You know what you have with Pete. Don't be a fool.
@StevenACohen2 Make the call to Alonzo. This is the moment to do it. Now or never. Prove you are the owner you said you are and the one we expected you to be. Homegrown talent does not come around this often.
@StevenACohen2 If the offer was 3 for 90 with opt outs I could respect that and said you went over what you thought he was worth. This last ditch offer is really a joke and one you wanted him to deny. Please prove me wrong and change the narrative.
@StevenACohen2 Tonight I had to tell my 7 year old daughter that the Mets don't want Pete back. She went running to her room in tears. Thanks for that. Had to tell her this is what it is like being a Met fan. Nothing has changed.
@StevenACohen2 It's bad enough to be crushed by losses on the field. Those things unfortunately happen. You had control over this moment and still do. Don't lose sight of that. Step in and make this right.
@StevenACohen2 Please don't allow this. You sign Soto just to let Pete walk. What are you doing. It's a 3 year deal with opt outs. What are we doing here!!!!!
@StevenACohen2 Tired of seeing our home grown players have moments on other teams. This is a sad day and one I did not think I would see with you as an owner. You still have a chance to make it right. I hope you do.
@StevenACohen2 Tired of feeling this way and allowing our players walk away. Things were supposed to be different. Things are always the same with the Mets. You say you want to change the narrative. It will never be changed.
@StevenACohen2 Strawberry, Gooden, Seaver, Degrom. All all time Mets that left. This is not supposed to happen under your ownership. You totally overpay for Juan Soto yet can't find enough to bring back what would be the all time homerun leader on a short deal. Make this right!
@StevenACohen2 This is what happens when you have a small Market GM. Only looks for bargain deals. Very sad if Alonzo is not back. This is when you should step in!
@StevenACohen2 Pete has been a great Met. Is a good guy and WANTS to be here. That's what it is all about. You guys offered him 160 million two years ago. No reason for this to drag on like this. I understand towing the line on other free agents, but not with a homegrown player.
