Neil Gaiman writes the first draft of every book by hand.
His reasoning is fascinating:
With a computer you write that down and look at it and then fiddle with it.”
With a pen you “slow up a bit, but you’re thinking the sentence through to the end, and then you start writing.”
Computers let your writing balloon.
Your story loses its shape and focus.
But writing with a pen forces you to consider every word, every sentence, before writing.
Your story stays sharp.
My takeaway — Your medium affects your output.
Writing on twitter → punchy with little nuance, constant feedback.
Writing a newsletter → longer form, more nuance but less feedback.
Writing a book → long form, lots of nuance but no feedback for a long time.

His other suggestions:
Leuchtturm notebooks over Moleskines. Visconti fountain pens.

La fuerza gravitacional de la luna dirige las mareas. La Luna tira de los océanos hacia ella y hace que la Tierra se abulte ligeramente: este abultamiento crea las mareas. Pero las mareas que tenemos se deben a que la Luna está donde está. 🌊 🌒
In 1995, 14 wolves were released into the wild in Yellowstone National Park. Scientists at the time did not suspect that this would radically change the entire ecosystem of the park. 1/n
