England, fifty years ago. A beautiful film of Saltaire, the Victorian model village in West Yorkshire. Lovely stone buildings by the river, a church, and a peaceful charm that feels like it belongs to another century.
@royallyemily My take on it is that I think he thought she was lucky to have him at the start. Now I think he knows how lucky he is to have her.
The Middletons raised a lovely human being.
@visitnorthyork I had to make a 2p phone call from a public phone box for a Brownie badge.
The world from then to now is unrecognisable - and not in a good wayβ¦
I still think often about those American heroes who stormed the cockpit on Flight 93. They had full knowledge of what had already occurred and correctly surmised that their plane was headed for a major target in Washington, D.C. They fought their way forward against all odds and attempted to force the barricaded cockpit. From the fragmented communications and cockpit recordings, we know they breached the door and fought hand-to-hand with the terrorists for control of the aircraft.
Their selfless sacrifice saved countless lives on the ground that day and prevented an already horrific tragedy from growing even darker. The potential destruction of either the White House or the U.S. Capitol was prevented by a final stand that will forever be remembered in American history as one of the bravest acts ever undertaken by a group of ordinary citizens.
@Number10cat@RupertLowe10 I live in a coastal community. Have grown up supporting the RNLI. My grandfather received a medal for his service in the RNLI. He would be turning in his grave if he knew it had become a ferry service aiding illegal immigration.
One day, your home will be empty, and someone will have to decide what to do with your things. They'll open your drawers. They'll find the watch you treasured so much, the car you spent three years paying off, and the clothes you saved for special occasions because you didn't want to wear them out. And they'll make three piles: what to sell, what to give away, and what to throw away. None of it goes with you. Not a single thing. The only thing that goes with you is that afternoon you stayed talking for hours and didn't even realize where the time went. The look on your mom's face when you showed up to visit her without telling her you were coming. Don't collect things... Collect moments with the people you love
@joannamont@skytv Phoned @nfum to advise them my dad had died. Girl on phone said βWhile I have you here, do you have any policies with us or is that something youβd be interested in finding out more aboutβ. ππ
