A new Windows Central poll shows that most gamers still don’t want physical games to go away.

More than 3,000 people voted, with 71% saying they prefer buying physical games. Only 29% said they’re ready for an all-digital future.

The poll comes as PlayStation plans to stop making new game discs in 2028, and Xbox is expected to focus more on digital games.

@SmashJT It depends. If enough people cancel their subscriptions and don’t get the PS6, Sonys future could be at risk. People were already moving to PC before this, they need to seriously start thinking about how to keep their players.

PlayStation has abandoned social media for 5 days now after the huge backlash over the end of physical releases from everyone except some bootlickers.

This is apparently not the first time, they already did it when they shut down Bluepoint Games.

They probably think people will forget and will eat this up.

PlayStation fought hard and got the previous community note on the post removed, but now they have an even better one.

According to the note, based on leaked info, they lied.

“From the Insomniac leak, PlayStation's own single-player games make up 60-77% of sales.

The data being used to argue for higher digital purchases include DLC, expansions, digital-only games such as early access, and live services.”

@ps_shots1993 2/2. They could easily have done a disc version for GTA6 but chose not to, I think it’s a deliberate effort that coincides with their decision to end physical versions. The timing is all too perfect. I’m not saying i’m 100% right, but I genuinely believe this is the case.

@ps_shots1993 You’re correct in saying that Sony has been planning this for a while. I do believe GTA was a part of it though. They were expecting pre orders en masse both digital and ”physical” with a code, basically 100% digital to show everyone ”See? No one needs a disc version”

@SoratomeYT @Sony @PlayStation Good point. What’s funny is, people were already switching to PC before this decision because of Sonys practises. They need their playerbase more than ever right now, which makes their decisions even more insane.
