Here's one of the @DFG_ICIPS model organisms - Ceratopteris richardii, or C-fern. C-fern grows in the tropics or in warm, humid greenhouses. It is a homosporous fern, meaming spores are all of the same size and germinate to generate small gametophytes.

The sporangia of the fern Ceratopteris richardii grow on the underside of dissected rolled-up fertile leaves (sporophylls).Those are formed during the reproductive phase of the sporophyte. As they mature, they open and expose the spores for subsequent release. #UniJena #DFG_ICIPS
