9 years ago today Career of Evil was published. I seriously can’t believe it’s been that long! It’s the book that made me obsessed, and, a year later, go to London to the book locations with @RobinEllacotFan and then we made a website! Career of Evil seriously changed my life.
Masham, North Yorkshire 🐏
It’s a gorgeous little town and I highly recommend a visit. The church is beautiful, and there’s five pubs, including Black Sheep brewery and Theakston’s brewery, and of course there’s the Ellacott family’s local, The Bay Horse.
The first time I visited Masham (dragging a sulking sister along with me) it was the annual Sheep Fair. A great atmosphere and they had talking sheep on a stage in the market square! (I didn’t know Michael Ellacott’s occupation at the time but I now suspect his influence.) The annual Sheep Fair is taking place on the 28-29th September this year 🐏
Masham was the first #Strike location I ever visited, 25th September 2016, and so these are the first two photos I ever took of a Strike location! I’ve taken a few more since 😂
This was 10 days after I’d suggested making a website with @RobinEllacotFan and around 6 weeks before we met up in London for the first time to visit locations from the first three books and get photos for the website that didn’t exist yet.

“The dirt and heat of a London afternoon, with the smell of stocks in the air, seemed suddenly full of beauty.
It was a glorious thing, to be given hope, when all had seemed lost.” 💚💛

Got some excellent news for all #Strike fans. 😆😆
#Doombar is back on in #TheFlyingHorse !!!! (Formerly known as as #TheTottenham
It just feels a bit more magical now. ❤️❤️
It’s not my tipple so I am currently enjoying a glass of Sauvignon but I know that many have been waiting for this moment again!!
“The ornate Victorian face of the Tottenham pub rose up behind the rubble and roadworks, and Strike, pleasurably aware of the large amount of cash in his pocket, pushed his way through its doors, into a serene Victorian atmosphere of gleaming scrolled dark wood and brass fittings.
Its frosted glass half-partitions, its aged leather banquettes, its bar mirrors covered in gilt, cherubs and horns of plenty spoke of a confident and ordered world that was in satisfying contrast to the ruined street.
Strike ordered a pint of Doom Bar and took it to the back of the almost deserted pub, where he placed his glass on a high circular table, under the garish glass cupola in the ceiling, and headed straight into the Gents, which smelled strongly of piss.”
