@ericmetaxas I was at the Barnes and Noble in Pensacola recently, I live here, I wanted a copy of “Suicidal Empathy,” they did not have that book either. It is very strange.
@AmericaPapaBear Unfortunately, it’s quite likely that they are reading at a kindergarten level. I have worked with literacy in different middle schools. It is very difficult to catch up.
@carolmswain I have a PhD in Education that took me 8 years to earn. I work with some adult students, but mostly I work with inner city students who are in middle school. I didn’t see that trajectory in my career path after completing my doctorate, but God did.

@mirandadevine This is so true. I have been trying to help and teach 6th graders. Many of them are on Kindergarten and 1st grade reading levels. I discuss this with my husband. I tell him that there are no words to describe the situation and the struggle for caring teachers and the students.
