As promised by @vonderleyen and @tzitzikostas, the 🇪🇺 is planning to fix rail ticketing and have stronger passenger rights 🚉🎫.
BEUC knows how to make this work for consumers - here are our ideas 👇

At @ACEA_auto#FutureDriven event, @beuc DG @arcapde talks about how the EU can accelerate the supply of cheaper EVs, especially in the second-hand market. The benefits for electrification are the greatest for consumers, but they buy 2nd-hand. This should be the priority.
We've heard @tzitzikostas talk a lot about transport affordability. He wants cheaper EVs, also in the 2nd-hand market. He wants to tackle transport poverty. He wants to make it easier to book train tickets and he wants better passenger rights. This a (very) good start.
BEUC welcomes @tzitzikostas' focus on consumer-friendly transport! 🎉
Commitment to 2025 & 2035 CO2 targets for carmakers is key, but so is making EVs affordable, especially in the second-hand market. 🚗 We also need more rail improvements, beyond just high-speed options.
We recently published our recommendations to make rail a more attractive choice for consumers 🚉. Our 'Railway to (Consumer) Heaven' report contains concrete recommendations, from quick fixes to long-term reflections. Find out more: https://t.co/jo2UQZtaO3
Our @RobinLoos12 explained that using electricity flexibly can both help consumers save money and help the grid at the @CEERenergy conference yesterday 👇 But consumers need financial incentives, the right info, and protection when things go wrong ⚡️💡

We're voting on Sunday, and on top of the EU priorities should be the development of a Masterplan for Rail - one we propose in our new report "Railway to (consumer) heaven". Check it out!

There are things 🇪🇺 can do to boost competition in rail to benefit passengers. E.g. easing purchase of rolling stock for new entrants 🚊 & lower track access charges 🛤️. This would allow new market players to dare to try in a positive way - @RobinLoos12@JakopDalunde rail event:
