Steroids are generally classified as “immunosuppressive”.

Yet, in select situations, we can use their properties to help tamp down inflammation in acute infections, and the risk/benefit ratio is in favor of using them even if the patient has an ongoing infection.

Based on the available evidence, I am getting follow-up blood cultures for GN bacteremia. FUBC were associated with lower mortality compared to patients who did not receive FUBC.
