Grew up in Lincs under the shadow of Newton, Parsons and Thatcher! Got out as soon as I started work and moved to London, now find myself retired in Lancashire.
@AvonandsomerRob The last trip I did, the hotel wanted over £20 for breakfast So instead, I stopped down the road, filled up while I had breakfast at a cafe for about £15. So saved over a £5 while filling for much less than the cost if petrol. It was a better breakfast too.
@leighkeystone If you live where I live you will have t wait until 67 to get a bus pass. If I lived 8 miles away, in Sefton, you will get it at 60, and get free local train travel too. Sefton Council have 20 times the debt of my council Where's the logic?
@AldiUK@leahmctighe_ Do not bring any of this card and coupon nonsense in. We like the simplicity and openness at your stores. None of this special price if you buy 3, or special price for cardholder. It us all marketing crap and unnecessary
@KirstieMAllsopp@Ed_Miliband We live in Lancashire. It rains for 360 days a year, or seems like it. We still have a water butt, but not really necessary.
@lincslincs There needs to be an investigation into an inflation rate for pensioners. Heating is a big cost, because they spend more time indoors, council tax is a high % of their income as their income is below the living wage.
@lincslincs In the few years I have been retired they have cut the free TV license, and the winter fuel payment, that wipes out this year's increase. Anyone on full state pension will be liable to income tax on it from next year, so whatever the increase is, reduce itching 20%.
@NeilRetail In 3 years, there will not be any 21 year old with work experience, so then they will be paying full whack for inexperienced staff. They need to train their own staff to their standards, and not just poach staff others have paid to train.
@SimonCalder@simonjpenn2401 We had a similar situation 3 weeks ago going into Lisbon. The 1 member of staff didn't seem to know what he was supposed to be doing.
@Welsh__Laurie@Stan122890 I was driving in the 70s. Most of the cars produced used by normal working people, were crappy, badly built rust buckets. The Ital, Allegro, Viva, Sunbeam, Maxi, even the much loved mini used to rot away.
@leedsbee@Welsh__Laurie My EV cost can fit 5 people in, can do 0 60 in 5.5 secs, has a low centre of gravity so will corner faster too, costs a fraction to run and doesn't need regular oil changes, clutch repairs, new cam belt, oh. And the roof doesn't leak.
@JordanEVGuy Then there are the people swayed by arguments fed from the oil industry. The guy who will not give up his V8, but he lives in Wales which has a blanket 20mph limit in towns, 50mph limit on most out of town roads, and loads of twisting country roads where a V8 is unusable.
@JordanEVGuy The more anti EV posts I read, the more I am convinced they are driven by vested interests. Mechanics who are scared, or unable to retrain who will lose a lot of business as ICE cars fade away. Petrol Station owners whose business will also fade away.
@Kevin__Davies@Ryanair The £8 drop off is a pain, but nothing to do with Ryanair. Before the charges were introduced, I sat on gridlocked roads round Manchester for over an hour to pick up my daughter. At least the charges have stopped the gridlock
@stephenpollard I am in my 70s. About one third of my contemporaneous white friends and colleagues have been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. Ladies are screened for breast cancer. We already get blood tests for sugar levels etc. Why not add checking PSA levels to these tests?
