The year is 1962. Your doctor prescribes thalidomide to your pregnant wife for morning sickness. It has been approved. The FDA gave it the green light in Europe. Twelve thousand children will be born with severe limb malformations before anyone in an official capacity acknowledges the problem. The families are told the drug was safe. The drug was approved. Both of these things remain true.

The year is 1972. Your doctor prescribes Valium. Britain is in the grip of a benzodiazepine wave that will last two decades. The dependency risk is known internally. It is not shared. Your doctor is not lying to you. He was not told either.

The year is 1999. Your doctor prescribes Vioxx for your arthritis. It is newer than ibuprofen, well-tolerated, and Merck has a study showing it works. Merck also has internal data suggesting it roughly doubles the risk of heart attack. This data will not reach your doctor for four more years. Fifty thousand people are estimated to have died in the interim. Merck eventually settles for 4.85 billion dollars. No criminal charges are brought.

The year is 2002. Your doctor prescribes OxyContin. Purdue Pharma trained its sales representatives to tell doctors the addiction risk was less than one percent. That figure came from a letter, not a study. The letter was about patients with terminal cancer on short-term doses in hospital settings. Your doctor is a GP with a patient who has a bad back. Nobody draws a distinction. Nobody is required to.

The year is 2008. Your doctor checks your cholesterol. Your LDL is elevated. You are prescribed a statin. Nobody mentions that the number needed to treat for primary prevention is approximately 250. Nobody mentions that the muscle deterioration you'll notice over the next two years is listed as a rare side effect rather than a documented pattern affecting a meaningful percentage of patients. The trial that informed the prescription was funded by the manufacturer.

Now it is today.

Your doctor has new guidelines. New studies. New consensus.

He is confident.

He has always been confident.

The confidence has never been the problem.

The confidence is, in fact, precisely the problem.

This is a mischaracterization of Obama’s 2015 nuclear deal. And @mehdirhasan is knowingly excluding some crucial details.

We are where we are today, at least in part because of Obama’s deal. You can draw a straight line from JCPOA to October 7 and to the current situation.

JCPOA was exclusively focused on nuclear and enrichment and that was its major flaw. Instead of packaging a comprehensive deal that would include the missile program as well, Obama purposely only focused narrowly on nuclear. This allowed the regime to fund not only its terror proxies but also its missile program and build up stockpiles, creating a shield for the regime to go nuclear by making it too costly to attack them once their nuclear ambitions became clear. It was widely known even back in 2015 this is how things would unfold. Marco Rubio is on record in 2015 predicting all these.

James Risch is correct in saying that the only entity left that appears to be trying to help the Islamic regime in Iran is the Democrats.

It was a democratic administration in 1979 that helped this regime cease power.

In 2009, after the bloody crackdown in Iran during the green movement, and despite the pleas by the Iranian people, Obama refused to intervene.

Obama refused to take out Soleimani when US military had an opportunity.

In 2015, Obama signed JCPOA and released billions to the ayatollahs, knowing very well the money would be spent on the missile and drone capabilities as well as funding their terror proxies. Marco Rubio is on the record in 2015 giving a symbolic speech about this just for the history to judge. We can draw a straight line from JCPOA and October 7 terrorist attack.

During Biden, sanctions were not enforced properly and the Islamic regime cashed in hundreds of millions of dollars in oil revenue that helped them provide more funding to their terror proxies which ultimately led to the October 7 massacre.

In Jan 2026, 40,000 unarmed protestors were massacred in two nights and there was only silence from the Democratic Party and its leaders. Obama has not even bothered to post a single tweet/statement about this tragedy.

Now that there’s a military intervention by the US and Israel, democrats have tried to stop it by limiting the war powers of the president twice.

And yesterday 53 democrats voted against reaffirming that the Islamic republic is the largest state sponsor of terrorism.

Shame on this spineless and incompetent party. They are more concerned about the pronouns than people’s lives. Their selective morality reflects their hypocrisy.
