@JungleReportFi@PeterDClack 2.8 based on current policies, but I don't think any country is close to actually fulfilling its policies.
2.8 might not sound much but given we already see severe impacts on food, water, increased wildfire, drought and flooding at about 1.5, risking 2.8 is totally irresponsible
@PeterDClack This is an odd interpretation of the new modelling. Yes, the previous worst-case scenario has come down, but nowehere does it say that 3.3 degrees wouldn't be catastropic. As we are already seeing, temprises far less than that cause widespread dispossession and loss of life.
@CACCTU Most unions have networks or caucuses made up of members pushing for stronger climate action. Some unions are taking a strong lead on meaningful changes, from protecting workers from impacts of extreme temperatures and pollution, to organising around demands for green jobs.
@CACCTU The more people join and get active, the more power we have to push for real climate action that also brings good jobs, brings down the cost of living and improves quality of life.
This #HeartUnions week, Unite rep Clara Paillard explains how the climate crisis is affecting workers now.
If you care about climate and the environment, join a union - let's work together for a future which doesn't cost the earth

The North Yorkshire Combined Authority should be investing in genuinely green jobs, not giving credibility to Drax’s climate-wrecking AI ambitions.
We need clean energy, not forest destruction.
#StopBurningTrees
@UniOfYork claims to stand for sustainability and innovation. So why align with Drax — a company whose business model relies on forest destruction and pollution? You can't greenwash your way to net zero.
#StopBurningTrees
Powering an AI data centre by burning trees at Drax would be a DISASTER.
@SciTechgovuk listen to the science and say NO to Drax’s dirty data centre.

@ZoomerHistorian@MothinAli Children are not racist unless taught to be by their irresponsible elders. Pretending to set the interests of children against the interests of people of a particular heritage, whilst turning a blind eye to any abuse by white men is a very twisted way of caring about children!
@1111Sophia1111 @MothinAli As a passionate campaigner against sexual violence and sexual abuse of children you will be very well aware that these crimes occur in every culture and in the UK the vast majority are by white men - mostly family or known to the victim. It is indeed tragic that this is ignored!
@Encheesend@MothinAli Well they are, so what ARE you doing about it? Not sure what you mean by "your community", but we have always had shocking levels of domestic and sexual violence and child sexual abuse - the vast majority of it perpetrated by white men. Why are you suddenly only concerned now?
@_Graffic_@Joseph_Boam Drought and flooding are two sides of same coin. Drought makes land hard, so when it rains it doesn't soak in to feed crops, but runs off to cause floods. A pattern of alternate drought and flood is becoming common and is an increasing threat to food supplies in UK and globally.
📝 Yesterday, UK union leaders delivered @Keir_Starmer an urgent letter at @10DowningStreet.
